Fun Stuff > BAND
Gigs you've been to and your thoughts.

Dear Mr. Valley_Parade (I figured that'd be less creepy than "Shane". Both options look equally creepy now), when you're going to see Boris, the most important thing is not to stand too far on either side. You will end up hearing only half of the band, and "Flower, Sun Rain" and "My Neighbor Satan" are no fun without vocals. Hearing Wata would've been quite helpful, too.
Also, I grossly overestimated their volume, thanks to you guys. I made myself some earplugs, because I was worried about my hearing. I wouldn't really have needed them, and I used the stage as a footrest, so I can't have been too far away from the amps.

1) Why did you quote that post?
2) The show in Toronto will be 19+, and I am 20.
3) I did not drink at the 21+ show that I went to.
Please don't assume you know things that you don't.

I never said you did. I said it was RELATED. I am super happy you got into a show that would have otherwise restricted your attendance. It reminded me of this 17 yo friend of mine that once talked her way into a Ramones show. My reasoning was that some kid went to a show here recently. Obviously got someone with proper age, ID to get a drink and give it to him. A.L.E. caught him. Who got pinched? The venue owner. What was the fall out. He cancelled all shows. So I apologize if that was not clear. I was a bit pissed as I had to cancel a performance. To recap, GREAT, GO TO SHOWS. NOT enough people "of age" do. But please if you drink, be careful to not get the venue in trouble with the State. And that is not pointed at YOU personally, but in general.

Yeah, this forum seems to have a weird thing about Boris being ridiculously loud. I actually have an aversion to incredibly loud music (I've never seen Earth or live dubstep for this reason, and I've had to walk out on Wolf Eyes twice) and Boris haven't bothered me either time I've seen them. Palehorse are far louder than Boris.

Agreed.
I have underage girls try to flirt with me all the time to get me to buy them a drink. I just look at the "MINOR" stamps on their hands, then explain politely about how they could get the venue, and by extension the band, in trouble. They don't listen, they just slink off to feign interest in some other poor mid-life crisis schmuck, but at least I'm not the one being an arse.

First off, Flaming Lips. ---- I saw them before in 1993, actually, but I barely remember the show - I just remember them doing "Vaseline."

That's about the first/last time I saw the Lips. They were opening for Throwing Muses. (btw, I've always disliked the Vaseline song). I would have to say that there performance was pretty unremarkable for me. I seem to remember a lot of fog. But I was probably just really anxious about seeing the Muses.
