Saw Sigur Ros last night... and it was amazing. Shitty shitty venue... festival hall... but I was front row so i didn't take much notice. They were great though, Gobldigook was the highlight, such a fun song live. Crowd was great and really friendly too.
Going to Bandof Horses on Monday...

I saw The Melvins Thursday night. They were kinda underwhelming, but I think it was because my ears were totally shot by the time King Buzzo came on.
The first act was The Secret Chiefs 3. When they first came out on the stage, I was a little turned off. The frontman was wearing a druid robe and all these large crosses. Another member was wearing a ninja outfit. They played a mix of Persian-inspired metal that sounded pretty good, although repetitive. Apparently, the rest of their stuff doesn't sound like that at all.
Next was Big Business. The frontman in this band was the only person who spoke to the audience the whole show and all he said was, “Thank you all for coming out tonight, we’re Big Business.” They had a pretty generic rock sound and they only played for 30 minutes.
Then King Buzzo walked out in some heavy turtleneck sweater thing. That does not seem like something you should wear in Colorado in the summer. The bassist was dressed like Hercules or something. They segued all of their songs into each other almost perfectly and in a middle of one song, they sang The Star Spangled Banner. I'm not sure if they were trying to make a political statement or not, but if they were, it was nice they did it in that way. When I saw REM, they talked about Obama between every song and it was pretty annoying.

I saw Wintersleep and Wolf Parade last night at Terminal 5 in NYC. It was fantastic! I really went to see Wintersleep. Wolf Parade was just an added bonus. Wintersleep were amazing live. They played 9 songs - 8 off "Welcome to the Night Sky" and one I hadn't heard before (it's not on their earlier albums either so I guess it's new/unrecorded). The energy was incredible and the crowd seemed pretty into it as well. Their songs were louder and had a more intense, epic, noisy chaos to them live. I can't wait for them to start headlining their own shows. Wolf Parade was great as well. Really fun, really energetic. The crowd was insanely enthusiastic. They closed with an epic, extra extended version of "Kissing the Beehive" which concluded with an awesome instrumental improv/jam several minutes long. Overall it was a terrific show (one of the better ones I've seen thus far this year).

I saw Boris nearly a month ago and they were amazing.
I walked into the club and my chest was pummeled by sound--and that was the opening act.
Here is my sketch of the setup:
