Hey! This thread!

What's your problem?

The web release was shoddy quality by the standards of internet audiophiles who think they can hear the difference through a set of shitty computer speakers. And CDs are shiny. Believe me, there's a sizeable market who've acquired the mp3s - either for free or a modest donation - who'll get the disc.

there are people who don't own computers. hard to believe, i know.
hell, up until a couple weeks ago i was one of them....i would have just downloaded it at work anway but my point remains valid.

--- Quote ---au contraire I think they are musical geniuses and disapointed me this time around.

I don't like the album due to the fact that it is a complete turn-around from previous albums which were great

I don't really follow where you're going with this  :?

The apparent idiocy of the move in releasing the album for free is belied by the money they'll make off the hardcore fans buying the shiny boxsets. And Radiohead are surely aware that that's a lot of people. Add to that those who are impressed by the scheme and donate money, and the fact that they're releasing it regularly in a few months anyway, and they don't really stand to lose anything, they just get extra marketing/word of mouth/credibility for the different method of release. It's a pretty shrewd move, they know they're cool enough in enough people's eyes that they'll come out on top, and even if they don't they're rich enough that it's not a great risk.

I suppose you're right about the hardcore fanage

--- End quote ---

Who's being hardcore? I'm buying everything I've downloaded over time to 'settle my books,' so to speak. Besides, as has been said - the quality was shit, I paid nothing for it, MP3s are shit compared to holding a CD in your hand with art and everything, you get an extra disc and a big handjob box-set thing with the next release. I'm not suggesting I've gone in for the propaganda, but whatever its format I planned on buying it physically.
