Way to make a first impression. So far you've made two idiotic blanket statements and made a needless about the most talked about album of the year. I tried to be nice about it since you were new, but saying shit like that? Mate, you've just made yourself look like a dick. Intolerance of other music tastes isn't appreciated here.

I think they're idiots due, only, to the fact that they release an album that probaly took so much money to make and let people LEGALLY d/l it for free.
I don't think they're idiots for any other reason... au contraire I think they are musical geniuses and disapointed me this time around.
I don't like the album due to the fact that it is a complete turn-around from previous albums which were great like Ok Computer and Amnesiac
I know that's the way to evolve as a band but it just wasn't as good as, say, Muse's BH&R which i do love and was an experiment that worked.
I don't want a muse vs radiohead thread either 'cause there're too many of them in the world as there is.
And i apologise for not searching before i posted.
That is a mistake i hope not to make again.

I don't really follow where you're going with this :?
The apparent idiocy of the move in releasing the album for free is belied by the money they'll make off the hardcore fans buying the shiny boxsets. And Radiohead are surely aware that that's a lot of people. Add to that those who are impressed by the scheme and donate money, and the fact that they're releasing it regularly in a few months anyway, and they don't really stand to lose anything, they just get extra marketing/word of mouth/credibility for the different method of release. It's a pretty shrewd move, they know they're cool enough in enough people's eyes that they'll come out on top, and even if they don't they're rich enough that it's not a great risk.

but surely if they have already released it on the net there would be no point in buying it on cd later on

Please don't quote the post above you. It's something of a rule here and it irritates people when others do it. Also, you are quite mistaken in assuming no one will buy a cd if they already have a downloaded copy. The CD is about higher quality, artwork, and the presentation of the music that the musicians intended, none of which you get with a download. Furthermore, many people have a) bought the boxset (which is overpriced for what it contains and therefore is making the band a tidy profit. B) Paid a respectable amount of money for the download itself, so the band is making money off of that. The average donation is certainly charitable and a pretty good deal for Radiohead just for some mp3 files C) will buy the CD as well. I, for one, am in the latter category since I enjoy having music in its intended form. You are assuming everyone who wants the album has simply downloaded it for free and won't consider buying it and that's a foolish and inaccurate assumption to make.
You said the album was a complete turn around and therefore you don't like it. Could you be more specific? What songs, for example, do you find particularly offensive and why?
