Always properly tag your music
StaedlerMars:
winamp actually has an automatic tagger that does it fairly well (haven't had any problems yet). It uses the Gracenote database and its standards.
ofcourse it still doesn't import mp3s

--- Quote from: october1983 on 18 Nov 2007, 07:27 ---It was only last week that I discovered that somehow in ripping the CDs, he managed to get the track order completely wrong, and never fixed it, meaning that I've been listening to a different album to the rest of the world (kind of). I'm thinking I'll just download it somewhere, rather than try to sort through all 69 songs.

I got Her Majesty (The Decemberists) from my brother and listened to it with the songs in alphabetical order for months before I realized.

Eugh. As I Rise would suck as an opener. It's also one of my favorite closers of an album ever.
IronOxide:
Bittorrents are usually tagged relatively well, it's things like Limewire and Soulseek with individual tracks that are usually the problem.
supersheep:
I have just spent over an hour re-tagging the first two gigs of my music collection.
ONLY NINE GIGS TO GO WOO.

I vividly remember a kid once who told me what a big Cradle of Filth fan he was, saying that one of his favourite songs was their cover of 'Fear of the Dark'.
You know, the one by Graveworm.

i went looking for that track once
the closest i came to finding it tagged with grave worm was a file (i think) named "cradle of filth - fear of the dark by graveworm.mp3"

Incidentally, that's how I got into death metal and stuff. I was looking for Metallica songs, I think Orion was what I was looking for, and this song pops up titled 'Burning Angel' from their album 'Wages of Sin'. I listened to it a few times and thought to myself "man, this must be OLD Metallica", and "this shit is RAW". After a few weeks I decided to try to find the rest of the album. I found only four other songs from it, Ravenous, Web of Lies, Enemy Within, and Shadows and Dust. And THEN I found out it was a chick singing the words.
As for retagging all my music, fuck that. I'll do it on a need-to/feel-like-it basis, because I've got too much. I think most of it is in something of a consistent format anyways.
