Scandanavian War Machine:
this is probably the most obvious statement of the year but i've found that using the Clone Stamp and Healing Brush together is really where it's at.
use the clone stamp to duplicate a color/texture and then use the healing brush to clean it up and blend it all together to make it appear seamless.

anyone know where to find good, free stock photos?

Lines:
If you have a deviantart account, look there. If not, make one, and then look there. People post all sorts of stock photos on there and are free. (You may need to ask permission or credit them if you plan on showing it to other people or whatever, but the artist says so in the comments if they want you to.)
