Why do I always find bands right after they broke up?

Valrus:
You know who you should listen to? The Unicorns.

valley_parade:
Sleater-Kinney.

camelpimp:
Which I first got into during the summer of '06. Ha ha.

Finding a band right after they break up is less crappy, I think, than finding out that one of your long-time favourites DID break up.

To cite two examples already in this thread...I found the Unicorns soon after their break up and the fact that I couldn't see them/there was no new material didn't bug me too much; they were a closed book. On the other side...I grew up in a crappy small town, and I was super stoked to be moving to a place at least within shouting distance of Montreal and Toronto, so I could see bands like SLEATER-KINNEY when they toured....and then they broke up the summer before I got here. That hurt.

mfpole:
I saw one of Sleater-Kinneys last shows! Yay me!
