Number One Music Video of 2007
« on: 12 Dec 2007, 09:21 »

I was channel surfing last night, and caught the tail end of Vh1's top 40 music videos of 2007.
They're choice was Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry".
It's a lovely song, sure, but number one video of '07? Surely they jest!
What do you all think the #1 spot should've been?

I don't get any music-oriented channels (MTV doesn't count anymore, obviously) so I'm only exposed to those videos that I actively seek out. Seems like these days videos are more expensive than they're worth.

But if I were to choose, I'd probably just choose Bjork's "Declare Independence", just by default, since it's Michel Gondry and all. But there's not a lot of conviction in that choice. I'm not even that crazy about the song.

I don't know who they find to pick out stuff like that.

I was suprised to find "Limp Bizket: Chocolote Starfish and the Hotdog Flavored Water" in this book about the top 50 greatest albums.

the only music video i've seen this year is for that new Feist song. it's an alright song. i did like the video alot just because it was a big, silly dance number and the fact that it was one continuous shot.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

I like music videos a lot, so I seek them out. These were my favourites:

Animal Collective - Peacebone
Menomena - Wet and Rusting

I haven't seen too many, but these were good:

Animal Collective - Peacebone
Menomena - Wet and Rusting
Justice - D.A.N.C.E.

Also, Battles - Atlas because it's Atlas.

Agreed. Menomena's Evil Bee video was also awesome
And to those quoting the atlas video, I'd argue that the tonto video is the slightest bit more awesome.

I have to go with the Battles videos and the D.A.N.C.E. video by Justice. They make me appreciate the songs in a different way, which is what music videos are supposed to do in a sense.

Any video that starts with John Stanier at his drumkit extending into an infinite horizon is going to be better than your common or garden music video because that man is to percussion what Idi Amin was to being a psychotic bastard.

Never mind that he's dressed like a T.A. or something.

That "Don't You Evah" video is so great. I love that Eno and Daniel make little cameo appearances.

If you like the Battles - Atlas clip check out the live version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWaTKpWcb4Q

Are they filtering their guitars through the keyboards, the keyboards through the guitars, or just playing both at once?
