Negra Modelo tasted to me like corona with molasses added at some stage. Not at all a bad beer, but it's not the top of any list.

Oo! I spend an inordinate amount of time reading fantasy books with a preference for "hero fantasy" and celtic-based societies (eg: David Gemmell is a great example of this) so mead always sounded sooo tasty. But is it really sweet? Always sounded to me like extra-sweet whiskey

This has nothing to do with the fact that he drinks Dos Equis.

No, it usually isn't too sweet. The only one that is overly sweet is a sack, but it is made with extra honey. It doesn't really taste like whiskey but rather has it's own unique taste. Almost like a honey and cinnamon cookie (like a snickerdoodle I guess). Pretty good.
