amok:
hey sorry to break up the mars volta page but on first proper listen, the new British Sea Power sounds amazing

(I know, I'm a few days behind the times here. still worth mentioning :-D)

Hairy Joe Bob:
I'm going to see them this Friday for about the thousandth time. Strange but no matter how many times I see them they are still amazing every time. It's great they're finally getting soem recognition after all this time. People forget that they were doing what Arcade Fire do long before Arcade Fire were around. The new album is so moving as well. The instrumental The Great Skua almost has me in tears.

Inlander:
I'm gonna review it on the music blog as soon as I can get a copy here in Australia (I downloaded it, but I want to buy it and listen to it properly on speakers). "Atom" was the best song of 2007 courtesy of the Krankenhaus? E.P., and now that it's on the album it'll probably be the best song of 2008, too.

Valrus:

--- Quote from: Johnny C on 25 Jan 2008, 15:11 ---The Mars Volta can go ahead and progress into a stage where they're writing songs again that have a clear beginning, middle and end. They can then top themselves by writing things like hooks and melodies. I'd settle for one moment per song that distinguishes it from its brethren.

--- End quote ---

I dunno, Johnny, I thought the hooks and melodies in Frances the Mute were not only there, but worth sifting through the occasional stretch of nonsense or wankery for. Can't say I heard much to defend in Amputechture to justify the two times I've listened to it, though.

Johnny C:
Harry, you better hustle the fuck up or I'll wind up writing about it.
