I have decided not to come now because I HATE YOU ALL AND YOUR TRAGIC SHENANIGANS. Well, unless the beer in Mike's fridge is good, in which case I shall come, steal all the beer, and then go back home.

Damn it Linds, you can't do that. I was going to straighten my hair and wear really really really tall shoes so you and I look more alike and we can see if people mistake us for each other in real life as well but now you're not going and it makes me sad because I liked my plan and now it's not going to work and going to Tronno is so completely pointless now because everyone is dropping out and I just want to cry my eyes out and fall asleep and dream of what could have been OH GOD.

Well when you put it that way OH ALL RIGHT, I'LL GO.

Liz, we'll find you some fake glasses and I'll bend my knees a little when I'm standing and we should confuse people rather well. I would offer to curl my hair, but my hair just does not hold it well.

Yelley, may I inquire as to your travel plans? Particularly if you are still flying into Detroit and driving from there, and vice versa, and also when you are leaving Tronno.

yep. i'm flying into detroit on wednesday, june 18, arriving at 3:30 pm. then i'm going to visit my grandma and eat at my favorite chinese place before returning to my parents' house for the night. maybe katie and mai will show up and stay the night there too... but i'm not sure because katie seems to be missing and hasn't told me yet. then i'm leaving on thursday at 8 am and meeting up with eed and co. around detroit for breakfast (i think... still need to work that out for sure) before proceeding on to tronno. then i'm returning to my parents' house on monday morning, arriving there monday afternoon, then my flight leaves for san jose at 9 pm from detroit.

yaaaaaay.

Okay, so I'm bringing name tags for everyone which will be really cool and snarky and personalized, which I'm making on the button-maker so I need everyone to make sure your name is on this list if you think you will be at tronnocon so that ackblom12 will know who you are.

Jason
Yelley
Tommy
Tania
Jon
Edith
Mike
Johnny
Phil
Linds
Liz
James
Tyler
Katie
MaiAda
Kieffer
Julia
Kat
Stephen (or is it Steven?)

Anyone else who might be coming? Or bringing a friend, and if so, what's your friend's name?

I'll bring a couple of  blanks, but they will be much better if I get to make them ahead of time. They will be souvenir buttons!

Yay buttonsssss!

Slight possible change in itinerary: I may get a ride out to Ft. Wayne, Edith, but I'd still arrive Weds night and leave Tues morning. I just have to figure out if this is actually happening and whether or not if it's cheaper to pay for gas or ride the bus. But I am not letting certain monetary challenges get in my way. I will find more shit to sell if I have to. (I sold a lot of textbooks this week. It was a good idea.)

In addition to my lame badgemaking, I have been checking into bicycle rentals for the weekend. It seems like rentals run around $30/day. Would anyone be interested in going for a fucking insane pretty hard riding tour of parts of Tronno? Mike would be showing us around, and it would really be more like racing to keep up with him so you don't get lost, punctuated by pauses in scenic locations like the waterfront or next to a stinky fish jump to catch your breath, and then racing madly up and down crazy scary hills than it would be like a leisurely ride.

P.S. Tommy assures me that this is a lame idea, too.

Can I just bring a bike? But I am rather out of shape and $30 is a lot for renting a bike, so maybe not.

And buttons aren't lame. Buttons are super awesome and Joe is just way way jealous.

I'm not sure that we'll be able to fit bikes in the car. It would cost an extra couple hundred dollars to rent the SUV, and that would be silly to do so we can bring bikes which we could just rent there.

How tall are you? Mike has 3two in working condition, so if you're the only one interested, maybe we'd be okay. He also mentions that it's pretty easy to find bikes to steal in Toronto, so that might be a good option to save money.

(Also, I know name badges are lame, but every con with registered participants should have them.)

Woo - 300th post! You should have an internet party for me! Would that be lame?

New information: Now it appears that I misread the email from the guy. Bikes are $30 if we reserve them ahead of time, or $15 + $3/hour up to 24 hours, which works out to $30. I'm still waiting to hear back from four more bike rental places about their rates, but this one is right on the waterfront.

That's cool. It's a possibility I might be interested, depending on how hot it is up there. (If it's the same as here, there's no way I'd last. I'd melt.)

Ok! I need to plan my really tiny budget, so what all are we doing? The suggestions so far have been biking, going to the islands, having a knitting day, there's a free concert that Liz linked in gabbly, an ultimate frisbee game, and drinking. If anything else was suggested, I have forgotten it.

what's the free concert?

i am on a ridiculously tiny budget as well, linds, so anything you have in mind i would probably be down with as well. i think a trip to the islands should definitely happen. they are really nice during summer and all you have to do is pay for a pretty cheap ferry ticket there and back. maybe we could put the islands and ultimate frisbee together?

also, apparently my housemate whom i mentioned a couple of pages back is doing her big birthday dealie in toronto on saturday night and i don't think this is something i can get out of, seeing as i am in toronto on the same weekend and a lot of my guelph friends will be there and all. it's sort of a shitty overlap but hopefully it'll be enough to just go see her for a couple of hours and say happy birthday and then maybe i can meet everyone at mike's after or something. i'll figure it out on the day of i guess.

This is everything I know about so far.

Thursday: arrive in tronno around 3 or 4. Make contact with Tommy so you can sneak into his hotel room. I would guess drinking and merriment, and some staggering around.

Friday morning: early breakfast with Tania, Phil?, Liz, Tommy if he's afraid enough of Tania...
Friday 10am: Yarn Crawl, which may take as long as 4-6 hours, but I'd say we'll be burned out after that.
Friday midafternoon: biking?
Friday night: drinking somewhere.

Saturday: the islands.
Saturday night: BBQ at Mike's, starting around 7. There will be games, karaoke if Yelley's still bringing it, and Yelley and I will teach people to knit if they want to know. And hopefully Tania will fake food poisoning to her other friends so she can come learn to knit in the round, and will knit with us too. Bring food to share and whatever you want to drink - if there's not enough food maybe we can all chip in for pizza or something.

Sunday afternoon: the zoo? biking? biking to the zoo?

Monday by 11am: we leave so we can get Liz to her train on time, unless she's getting there a different way, in which case we don't have to leave until more like 2 or 3.

Dammit, I'm to wordy. Everyone else has typed all kinds of stuff while I've been typing. I'mma just post this anyway.  :x

No, that's helpful! I forgot about the BBQ.

I will definitely tag along for breakfast and the yarn crawl, even if I don't buy anything, as it's fun to touch different yarns. (I apologize in advance if I proclaim "FUZZY!") And Tania, that sounds like a good idea! I'm pretty sure Liz said she is bringing her frisbee. I can't remember what the girl's name is, but the concert sounds like singer/songwriter like music. But it's free, so if it's bad, we won't feel bad for leaving. ;)

yeah i would be down with free music i think! and maybe the yarn crawl, i'm still broke as a joke but maybe i'll find something i like.

also just to throw this out there, i don't really know what's going on with everyone on monday but i don't have to work in guelph until 3pm on tuesday. i was going to just take a bus back to guelph late monday night but if anyone's going to be in toronto an extra day or two and wants company, and if the hotel room tommy booked includes monday night, i'm okay with sticking around a bit longer.

Tania, if anybody else sticks around, cool, but if not, let me know and we can give you a ride back to Guelph on Monday so you don't have to take the bus. I'm planning to go back through Sarnia instead of Windsor so Liz & Linds can see as much of Canada as possible, so we'll be heading right through there, and there will be room in the car; however,we will have to leave earlyish on Monday unless Liz manages to stay later somehow in which case Linds and I don't have to leave until midafternoon; also, this is pretty much the longest sentence I've ever written so I am thinking I should just keep it going; punctuation is cool and semicolons are the best.

I have a better schedule:

Friday Morning: Arrive to disappointment that Jon and Rachel aren't present.
Friday Afternoon: Talk about the awesome things Jon and Rachel would've contributed to.
Friday Night: Drink and get all sappy about how awesome having Jon and Rachel there would've been.
Saturday Morning: Wake up after a dream that Jon and Rachel showed up unexpectedly. Face utter disappointment.
Saturday Afternoon: Go get lunch at a place Jon and Rachel would have liked, because it'd be like having them there.
Saturday Night: Get drunk and shave Tommy's head and put a red wig on Johnny in the hopes that you might be able to mistake them for Jon and Rachel.
Sunday Morning: Lament the absence of Jon and Rachel as you clean up the bits of red wig Eed tore apart in a fit of drunken rage over their absence.
Sunday Afternoon: Knit Jon and Rachel scarves. They might like that.
Sunday Night: Get drunk and IM Jon and Rachel offering flight money in a desperate bid for their presence for just one evening.
Monday Morning: Pack up to leave while discussing the idea of detouring through Boston to catch a glimpse of Jon and Rachel.

semicolons ARE the best.

unrelated, the psychology manual i'm reading for my summer course right now has the worst punctuation ever and all this improper semicolon use is making me really upset. it's not a comma! it isn't hard to figure out.

I don't know, apparently Liz has a ginormous suitcase too?

But the car I'm renting is supposed to hold 5-6 people, and 2 large plus 2 small suitcases.

I'll probably have one little duffle bag, plus if my bike rack fits on the rental I'll have my bike. I don't know what Linds' or Tania's luggage will be like; I imagine Tania will pack in a paper bag like last time I saw you guys, and I imagine Linds being all artsy and packing in an old fabric guitar case or something. So we should be able to squeeze in there.

Man, if I had a guitar case, I would SO do that. But I am lame. But for luggage, it'd either be a moderately sized suitcase (I can take a picture for scale if needed) or a bookbag and a tote. And I'd bring a pillow, but that will be on my lap as we road trip, because I have the habit of falling asleep when I'm not driving.

Also, Liz, are you bringing a hair dryer? If you are, I won't, and if you aren't, I will. I think it's silly to share a room with people and everyone brings their own hair dryer. Unless you don't want to share, which is cool.

The free concert thing is Saturday night, so it will conflict with the barbecue. There are also a bunch of other free concerts and stuff at the same place earlier in the day and the whole weekend, really, so it's something to keep in mind if we have a couple of hours to fill. Here's the schedule of events they have.

Also my suitcase isn't really that big. I took a picture for scale, keep in mind that Liz is merely 5'3".

Your suitcase should not be equivalent to a full half of your person, Liz. When Rachel and I were planning to go, I had my plans for stuff pared down to a mere backpack. Just change of clothes for two days. If you get desperate, go to a laundromat.

It's either that or my backpack, and there is no way in hell I will be able to fit everything I feel like I need into my backpack. Besides, the backpack is already being used as a carry-on for the disgustingly long bus rides I will be enduring. I need a lot of reading material and snacks.

Jon, you are not a girl. Girls tend to have more stuff they need to bring. I typically have a smaller suitcase than most girls I know, or at least I did when I went to New York. But, I'm guessing here, my suitcase seems it is about the same size as Liz's, maybe smaller. I think it hits me somewhere between my knee and mid thigh.

I'll be getting into Toronto at like 9:25am on Friday so I'm guessing I'll head up as quickly as I can to meet with you guys and get something to go or something.

We'll be missing all three of you. Shane and Rachel, mostly, but we'll miss Jon, too. Kind of. :-D

Nah, I really am sad all three of you aren't coming.

The good thing about Rachel and I not being there is that if you lot decide to get pizza at some point, we won't be there to eat all of it.

For example, JC and I will be there a few days earlier so lord knows what we'll be up to from Wednesday - Friday.

Our ears in hookers and blow.

I plan to just pack a couple pairs of jeans (I expect some vomiting), five shirts, socks, underwear, iPod and The Maltese Falcon for the plane and MAYBE my laptop. Since I assume the noise jam isn't happening anymore I'll leave the Casiotone at home, and I doubt I'll bring my guitar unless their is a tremendous demand. (Read: I will not be bringing my guitar.)

THAT IS HOW YOU PACK, MOTHERFUCKERS.
