happy thread for happy people!
« on: 25 Jan 2008, 01:18 »

If you were to die tomorrow what music would you want played at your funeral?

For my (purely hypothetical) funeral I'm thinking explosions in the sky or, if I have any reason to assume I'd feel lonely and bitter in the (purely hypothetical) afterlife, ICP on a church organ and make sure to lock the doors.

"Sex Bomb" by Flipper, recorded live at tommy's funeral.

I would have committed suicide because life without tommy is no life at all.

At least, that's what I'll be claiming.

I would want a traditional Catholic funeral, so that's not up for debate, but at the wake it'd definitely be Our Endless Numbered Days

Either that or Nite Versions by Duran Duran.

Can I come to your funeral? That would be immense.

Dismemberment Plan - It's So You would be fitting, self-deprecating choice for me I reckon.

"Cosmos" - Steve Berstein
and the end credits theme from LoZ: OoT
possibly "Move Away & Shine" - Polyphonic Spree somewhere in there.

Some happy hardcore would be good times. Failing that, anything by The Angelic Process would deliver. We'll say "shielded by death/suspended in light", because when some one as great as me passes away, you know dudes are going to be really, really depressed.

If they played a great song at the funeral of your best friend, wouldn't that ruin the song forever?

I think it would really depend heavily on the circumstances of how they passed away. It might also, later on down the track, make the song remind you of a great friend you had, which I don't think would be ruining the song for you.

Either "Minute Hour Day Week Month Year (The Faith's in My Chest)" by City of Caterpillar or "You Don't Know Jesus" by Mogwai.

Those songs have bitchin builds.

Probably Bach for the service portion for my family and stuff.
Actually, all old time-bluegrass and Appalachian gospel (you know, the a-capella stuff that sounds really celtic) for the part where I get cremated on a pile of railroad ties.
If only.

I always thought Back In Black would be good as I was being lowered into the ground, so long as my coffin was fitted with a spring so I'd pop up out of it when the vocals come in.

If people want to be all depressed, then they should play Joy Division's "Atmosphere." However, if they want to suck up and move on, I'll be glad if they play "I Feel Good" as a laugh.
