Movies That You Are Looking Forward To Seeing
« on: 18 Feb 2008, 17:26 »

I think it's pretty self explanatory, really.

I just stumbled across this on IMDB and am already really excited. Maybe because I'm minoring in psychology, who knows?

Well, I have never been a real big fan of remakes.
But http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0423512/ makes me giddy.

Plus who isn't excited about the Dark Knight.   From what I have seen, it looks like Heath Ledger out Nicholsoned, Jack Nicholson.  If this movie is any indication more Hollywood stars should start killing themselves.

The Dark Knight, globviously.

and uh...what else is coming out? i was really excited about the possibility of Hyperion and it's ilk being made into movies except that i just found out it's to be a trilogy and it only covers the second two books which, if you haven't read them, leaves alot of IMPORTANT SHIT out. the bastards.

i'm looking forward to some other movies too, but i forgot what they were.

Be Kind, Rewind
The Dark Knight
(srsly)
Iron Man
The Counterfeiters
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
CJ7
(New Stephen Chow movie yesss!)
My Blueberry Nights (critics have given it an "eh" so far, but it's Wong Kar-wai, so whatever)
The Incredible Hulk
Dragonball
(Preliminary thoughts: wtf? I thought they were doing that like ten years ago? And I thought it was a joke?)
Quantum of Solace
So yeah, I know about these because they're either happening soon or kinda high profile. Talk about moar indie-type films kthxbai

p.s. Did I'm a Cyborg, but That's Okay (Chan-wook Park's last movie) ever get released in the States?

Edit: Whoa! Keep Coming Back, William H. Macy directorial debut!. Okay, he apparently directed a made-for-tv movie in '88. But still!

Ooh, that's one I forgot. Though I liked The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. Not saying it was fantastic, but I like it enough to own it.

I still need to see There Will be Blood and No Country for Old Men. I fail.

More in the future - I am of course excited for The Dark Knight, though my aniticpation has been somewhat soured by recent events. I may have to transfer my attention to Indiana Jones.

Totally agree with Prince Caspian and Iron Man.

I am going to admit right now that I've never really liked any of the Batman movies, so I don't know how excited I can get about The Dark Knight. I think I will go see it because of the raves Heath Ledger got for his role, both before and after his death. Probably I will just wait for it to hit the cheap seats and then go.

I have to admit I have high hopes for Iron Man.  Was sceptical to say the least when I heard it was RDJ in the title role.. But after seeing that trailer I have to admit that I was quite impressed.

Miracle At St. Anna

Spike Lee directs James Gandolfini.  That alone is enough to excite me.

Hmmm, I can't remember the last good movie Gandolfini was in :? mainly a TV dude, I guess. Walton Goggins is on board, though, and he kills on the Shield. That movie's got a lot of good TV talent in it.

I'm itching to see In Bruges, myself.

That one looks really good. I think I saw the theatrical trailer for it before the last five movies I've gone to see. And Roger Ebert liked it, which bodes well for me as I've discovered we have very similar taste in movies.

I'd say that has more to do with the movies he's been in than his own acting abilities, which are pretty phenomenal.

I'm really looking forward to seeing the Dark Night as well, but my film lecturer said that although all of the filming had been done with Heath they hadn't done all of the re-recording voices in the studios, so they might have to get someone who sounds like Heath to finish off that. Hopefully they won't have to though.

I can't wait for Indiana Jones to come out too, it seems like so long since the others were out (and is a long time!) Love a bit of Harrison Ford, even if he is getting a little old.

My mind has gone blank for other films now... will have to scour a few websites!

Where the Wild Things Are

Have you seen the clip from it that has been floating around on the internet? Warner Bros. has been pretty quick on making sure they are taken down so you might have to be speedy.

Anyway, I am so ridiculously excited for this movie. Directed by Spike Jonze and adapted by Dave Eggers, I don't see how they can go wrong. And if the clip is indicative of the overall quality of the film, I am even more excited. The quality of the clip I linked isn't as good as the original I saw, but this looks like it is going to be such a beautifully shot movie. The sunlight and colours looked so crisp and natural.

Dark Knight has to go straight to the top of my list.

Then after that I'm looking forward to Burn After Reading, Iron Man, and Indiana Jones.

I had my doubts about them doing a new Indy film, but that god-damn teaser trailer has me excited to a ridiculous extent. I know I shouldn’t build my expectations built on such a small glimpse of a forthcoming movie, but damn it the 8 year old in me can't wait for this movie, (he also wants me to buy the Lego sets that go with it!).

My expectations for Iron Man are also pretty much based on the trailers and the inexplicable soft spot I have for Robert Downey Jr.. I knew nothing about the character before they announced the movie, but from what I’ve read since they seem to have hit the nail on the head with his casting at least.

Where the Wild Things Are clip

I have to say I am interested in that movie after watching the clip, mostly seeing how the whole situation occurred.  I remember loving the book, but my mind is blank on how such a thing could be made.

Iron Man
Dark Knight
Incredible Hulk
Pineapple Express

Yes, I'm a huge nerd.

Also, The Road (they're making it into a movie).  There's probably more, but I'm really out of the loop here, as the internet sucks and I don't get to see any movie previews.

Penelope looks good. It will be out in a few days.

I'm afraid that Prince Caspian will suck. I don't understand the casting of a 26-year-old in the role of a 14-year-old.

I had no idea that he was twenty six. This makes the movie look a little less appealing. Also it's been a while since I read the book so I suppose I didn't remember until now how young the prince was.

There's not a lot of movies coming out in theaters soon that I have any interest in, so I'm just going to get up to date on my foreign film DVDs. Particularly "Goodbye, Lenin" and "The Lives of Others."

So, the guy who played Peter is about to be 21 and Peter is supposed to be about 14. I can't remember his exact age, but this is the last one he'll be in for a while, as he's going to be "too old" to return to Narnia until The Last Battle. And really, people have been casting older people in younger roles for I don't know how long. The guy who is playing Caspian was in Stardust (the young version of Tristan's father) and he wasn't bad. For as much as I liked the last movie, this is still one I'm very excited to see.

The Dark Knight and Iron Man define this year of movies for me. I've followed every bit of information on TDK and I've been roped into every Joker game on the internet and all of the hype surrounding it. I cannot wait for that film.

Also, many others listed in this thread.

And Penelope (a movie about a girl with pig nose - family curse, but of course - looking for love).

It looks magical and funny and James McAvoy is dreamy.

Oh, and Catherine O'Hara is pretty much always epic win.

I've heard bad things about Penelope, mostly about how adorable Christina Ricci is and thus how the conceit of her being constantly rejected by suitors is completely unbelievable.

For some reason the concept reminds me of Lars and the Real Girl.
