He might end up being best known for his part in Road House, unfortunately. His 80's hits were all bluesy, but in the later part of that decade he started recording 20s-40s jazz. He had just recorded his first rock album in 8 years, Mess of Blues, which is out March 20 in Europe and April 22 in the States.

Are you saying there's something wrong with blues?

I've just been hearing him referred to as blues/jazz player, and all I've seen is blues so far. I'm far more interested in the implications of his odd technical style on jazz than anything blues-related.
