Ridiculous Decadency
Patrick:
Long Beach, MS? There's your trouble. You've got all this silt sloshing around off of the islands to the southwest, among other reasons, such as rivers. Why do you think San Francisco Bay is so dirty-looking, despite the fact that you can swim in it and you'll be perfectly fine? Because of the river silt washing in from the various rivers in the area.

Yeah dude uh the Gulf is actually pretty nice if you go to certain places. Try Florida (the part without overdevelopment and old people, if there is such a place anymore).

I recommend Navarre Beach, FL. Stuck between Destin and Pensacola. And while you're there, stop by Sailor's Grill and Bakery, one of the greatest restaurants I've ever had the pleasure of eating at and working at. It's right on the beach and sister to a Pagoda Bar right next door, which is also fabulous. And then, if you cross the very thin sandbar that is Navarre Beach, you're on the Gulf side. I used to see Dolphins swimming near the shore almost daily and the water is sooo amazingly clear and gorgeous. The sand is even great.
God, I miss that place. And boating.
It's a bummer it got hit so hard by the last couple of hurricanes to come through that area. My aunt had to rebuild the restaurant and pagoda from the ground up several years ago. Crazy floridians and their decimating storms.

Eh, I don't study why the water is dirty, I just swim in it (but not much), was at a family reunion. The water at Pensacola was great though, didn't see any dolphins, but on the bright side, I didn't see any sharks either.
And I have never been to San Francisco, so I wouldn't know about the water there either. I have lived all my life in Colorado, we don't get many oceans here.
Patrick:
Just saying, it's a very isolated case, and it doesn't mean the whole Gulf is nasty.
RedLion:
The bay area around Tampa is exquisitely clean and well-kept up.
Of course, more and more old people are starting to move into the Tampa Bay area, so the beaches are starting to fill up with wrinkles and oversized swimsuits
