Ridiculous Decadency

It used to be a really nice beach, but a couple summers ago they closed down the Salisbury Beach boardwalk. Now all the regulars from there (Heavy gang element, a lot of trashy folks) have all moved up to Hampton.

Only problem is that I live in Maryland. If I can find an excuse to go to Austin this summer that my parents will pay for, maybe.

I remember Hampton being pretty cool when I was little. They used to have fireworks every Wednesday night.

The Gulf of Mexico isn't that bad. It's only slightly bad because I don't like swimming in oceans. (Or at least I didn't last time I was in the ocean, which was when I was a kid. Damn sand getting places and jellyfish and seaweed wrapping around your legs....bleh.) But Clearwater, FL is really gorgeous, though, and I would swim there again.

Ah... jellyfish. I have been lucky, I walked right between two of them without realizing it once. I was really paranoid about them after reading about the Portuguese man-o-war at a museum, though, and I refused to get into the ocean for the rest of the trip. I am just not really much of a swimmer.
