Ridiculous Decadency

--- Quote from: Nodaisho on 28 Mar 2008, 18:18 ---And yes, Spluff, those rifles are extremely commonly used in target rifle competitions, because they are highly accurate, due to tight manufacturing tolerances. People make 600 yard iron sight shots. Not sure what size target, an as-issued m16 would only get about 3MOA, which would mean 18 inch groups at 600 meters, even without changing winds messing it up, but they modify them before shooting them.

Wait, what?
How did I get involved here?
Nodaisho:
Oops, I could have sworn it was you that said it had practical use. I should have double-checked but I got distracted. Should have been redlion, will edit that.

friend of mine's got one of those. i have the magazine for it because he left it in my car and never came back for it. it's a nice little rifle. I think i prefer a bolt action on my 22 though. i'm gonna sell my SKS to get it, and after I get paid a couple times at this new job I'm gonna get a handgun for carry purposes. i don't really know what I want, in a handgun. I kinda want the p22 but i don't wanna rely on a 22lr in a shitty situation. cheap plinker though.
Nodaisho:
Go to a range that rents, try out different ones. Try sigs, 1911s, glocks, CZs, S&Ws, Rugers, figure out what you like the best. The P99 is similar to the P22, if you like the feel of that. You can also get .22 conversions for some pistols, if you want cheap plinking.
I think you might be thinking of the Ruger 10/22 that your friend has, the Marlin model 60 has a tube magazine, the ruger has a detachable one. What I really want is a model 39, but those are about $400, insanely accurate though. Not as accurate as a high quality CZ452 or something, let alone an anschutz, but very good, especially for a lever.
Unless the gun was part disassembled and he left behind the tube magazine or something.
Of course, take this with a grain of salt, as this comes from someone that has precisely zero range time.

I've been wanting a new iPod or similar device ever since mine got stolen a few years back, but I've been having trouble justifying the cost. I was at my parent's house last week and found my brother's old ipod that had stopped working (a 10g 3rd gen), and messed around with it a bit and established that all it needed was a new battery. I ordered one online for about $17.00, popped it in, and it's as good as new!
