The early stuff is awesomely badass, although not as subtle and progressive as their later material. Good soundtrack for kicking people's asses though.

Well if you've never heard them you could always look for a music video on youtube. They're big enough for music videos. And I kinda feel like there has to be a Mastodon album in the mediafire thread somewhere if you used the search button. The comic was really funny. In fact it actually made me want to check out Mastodon.

They are really fucking terrible. I'm sorry guys but you all have awful taste (because apparently I get to decide what is good). Seriously it's just bullshit nu-metal. I tried so hard to like it but they are just a really terrible sounding band. I can only liken them to Lamb of God who also suck so hard it makes my eyes sting.

Luckily the comic is still amusing.

I mean they have some relation to metalcore and hardcore, yes, but they are not nu-metal in the least.

But they are mostly contemporary trashy sludge metal. Which rocks.

Well it just sounds a lot like bands like Lamb of God, heavier System of a Down stuff, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage (who I would describe as nu-metal) and bands like that. Let's be fair I prefer black metal over all other types of metal and Mastodon obviously isn't my thing. If you guys want to listen to really shit music please go ahead, I'm not going to stop you, I was just really disappointed that after all that hype Mastodon were basically total wank.

I know that this isn't actually what you really mean and I'm just being a pedantic git but how can you "not see the point" in a band?

The band is a group of fellows who make music, and sometimes they record it and other times they play it in front of people and they are making the type of music that they enjoy making and some people enjoy that and it is just a silly turn of phrase is what I'm saying.
