The dreaded AP Art
Saiokuo:
Spluff: AP (advanced placement) Art is a class you can take in high school to earn college level credit for an art class.
Emaline: Ah, that sucks. I used to fight with my art teacher alot about pieces but now that I'm a senior she's backed off and lets me kind of do what I want.
On a related note, I won't be sleeping the next two nights to get all my pieces finished because they are due Thursday for me. I have no idea why she wants them all done so early.
Pseudonymph:
I really really feel your pain. My art teacher just kind of assumed that we all have a lot of breadth work to use for our portfolios, so I just got my last concentration done yesterday, and now I have a week to do 7 more breadth pieces. Arg! And instead of giving us time in class to do them, she decides to make us all do a giant mural. Which we can't use.
I didn't know there was such a thing as an "art high school." I'm kind of jealous, actually!
My concentration is my car. (It's a 1970 Chevelle) Tarot Cards sound really hard to do. Maybe fun once or twice, but I don't think I could think of 12 different ways to draw tarot cards haha. Good luck with your breadth.
Saiokuo:
Oh man, that sucks! Good luck getting it all in!
My teacher was actually pretty cool about the breadth stuff. She had us spend the first semester on bredth and even a few extra pieces in case some didn't turn out well. We just finished our concentrations (I'm actually still tweaking mine) so we had a few weeks built in to get slides and do corrections.
The county I live in has alot of cool magnet schools; I'm really lucky! I love my school.
Cars sound really hard! I can't draw them to save my life. What medium(s) are you using? The tarots were very fun but did require alot of planning and research.
Pseudonymph:
I wish I had extra breadth work. She just told us to bring in a concentration every 2 weeks and that we'd do breadth in class. Everyone in my class is really really slow so we've only done 5 things so far, and it's already April!
What country do you live in? I wonder if I can move there and finish out my last six weeks of high school, haha.
I mostly used colored pencils for the car, but sometimes paint and I did a collage-type-thing, which turned out really bad. What did you use?
Saiokuo:
Ooh, that really does stink. But there is still time; if you work really hard you can do it. I believe in you!
I'm in a county in North Carolina. NC counties are notorious for having either really horrible schools or really good ones.
I used chalk pastel in pencil form so I could get details and used q-tips for blending. Colored pencils are nice; do you use prismacolors? And what kind of paint, acrylic or oil?
