If half of you who poo-poo other people's work tried half as hard to create your own then maybe you would be more successful in your own endeavors.

Maybe we wouldn't be so negatively adjusted towards the band you posted if you didn't insult us for not liking it.

My own opinion of you has little to do with what I posted.  I still contend that it takes very little effort to denigrate other people's work when you produce nothing yourself and, yes, you are an excellent example given how you have cursed at me.  My bile is mostly directed at you personally instead of the community at large.

I play in a band, do art, and I work full time.  But even if I didn't, I think I would still be justified in saying I don't like this band.  It doesn't sound to me like they're trying to write greart songs, it sounds like they are trying to write kitschy songs.  Irony for irony's sake has never made sense to me.

Before this thread gets locked I want to say that I love this band.  I love the keyboard work, the patches and parts are actually really good and take a pretty solid knowledge of synthesis to create.  The vocal melodies are all pretty catchy and the songs on the record are varied enough that isn't the same stuff repeated over and over again.

The other thing I love about this band is the complete lack of pretension.  You can tell that they are making music that they enjoy and are having fun doing it.  They don't take them selves to seriously,  do you not see the humor in naming the last song on your album "Epic Last Song" 

I donno, I just enjoy it and think it is a fun record.  They are one of the reasons I bought a 3 day pass to Lollapalooza. 

Also for the record Crystal Castles are a bunch of over rated pretentious pricks.  They have some good songs but are so full of themselves I kinda want to vomit.

I think Oerdin's "sell-outs" comment was probably meant to be read in inverted commas, as in, he was saying that now all the indie kids will call them sell-outs, not that he thinks they're sell-outs.  But the way the post was written did leave it open to interpretation.

The only example I can really site is that they played a show in Dekalb, IL not to long ago.  The show promoter has a graphic designer design posters for his shows and then allows him to sell the extra posters at the shows.  Crystal Castles refused to let him sell his posters at the show even though he had designed a pretty bad ass poster gone to the troubled of screening them and then putting them up all over town to promote their date.

It's not really leeching off of Crystal Castles' effort if the poster designer was employed by the people promoting the show. That does seem like a pretty rude thing to do to someone that has gone through the personal trouble of promoting your band's show.

I like some crystal castles, that kinda rubbed me the wrong way.  Also, it couldn't have been to much money related because they had a solid guarantee plus a decent percentage of back end.

I went and watched them tonight at the Casbah in San Diego.  It was a great show.   Plus it looks like next time they do a North American tour they'll be with Nine Inch Nails.  It seems they're going gang busters.

Pretty ironic, considering that Crystal Castles themselves are in trouble for co-opting Trevor Brown’s beaten-up Madonna picture without permission.  Crystal Castles can make money by piggybacking on a graphic artist’s work, but graphic artists can’t make money by piggybacking on Crystal Castles.

One of their songs has officially been chosen as the theme music for the Fast & the Furious 3 movie who's trailer debuted during the Super Bowl.  I'm really happy for my friend as he's worked hard and deserves some success.

Overrated music, rubbish band. Generally, any band on the NME tour is going to be pretty awful. The NME pride themselves on hyping up average indie bands and banging on about how they discovered them first. The more obscure and crap the name the more likely it seems your going to get into NME nowadays.

Sounds like the NCAAP Image Award for Indie music.
