I just honestly play Pokemon games over and over again because I love developing new teams of Pokemon. Definitely the main reason that Pokemon is so popular is not because the games are so well-designed, but the actual creatures themselves are well designed and portrayed, unlike other "creature training" games with very uninteresting creatures.
For me, the desire to play the new generations really just boils down to wanting to play with new Pokemon and the new gyms.

Dammit I was playing Pokemon before any of you kids were playing Pokemon. Then I was probably far too obsessed with Pokemon.
I drew fanart, for heaven's sake. Fanart from the orginal Gameboy graphics.

Pokemon was the second game I had on Game Boy, ever!
I still think it's great, even though I no longer play.

Oh man Lunchy, I did that too!
I saved up all of my poket money and birthday money and bought a Gameboy, Pokemon Red and Pokemon Blue all at once., they were the only Gameboy Games I had for so long! Good times.
Meanwhile this year Loxley bought me a DS and Pokemon Diamond just because. Best thing he ever did.
