I WANT TO BE THE VERY BEST

mooface:
i really, really miss playing pokemon.  i lent someone my nintendo ds & pokemon games about a year ago and they never gave it back.  i don't know if i'll ever see it again :(  this thread makes me want to go and re-buy everything.  (although i guess the ds is outdated now.  what is the newest newfangled nintendo hand held gaming system anyways?)

edit:  the only reason i bought a gameboy was because i wanted to play pokemon.  i've owned a couple gameboys & the ds since then, but the only games i've ever had have been pokemon ones: red, blue, yellow, silver, sapphire and ruby.  i am a great big pokemon dork and does anyone know if you can buy the pokemon seasons on dvd?  because i would probably buy them and watch them all.

JediBendu:
Wow, did Lunchbox just pull a "I was into this way before you guys" with Pokemon?

I will add though, that my first Pokemon game was Blue, when it came out, so, y'know, I've played it for a while too. It's only 10 years old or so, I'm sure tons of us remember the original graphics (and original designs, Pikachu was ugly.)

Barmymoo:
I remember playing the card game when I was about ten, but I didn't play the gameboy game until maybe last year. My brother still plays it when he's bored, and I think he's got all my cards and all of his too.

At primary school everyone was mad for Pokemon cards, and we had an ofsted inspection coming up so our head teacher went round confiscating cards. I remember in the lunch line one day she actually ripped up a boy's set because she was so stressed. It seemed like a crime at the time (actually I suppose it techinically was. A sin then).

Lines:

--- Quote from: Lunchbox on 05 May 2008, 03:55 ---Dammit I was playing Pokemon before any of you kids were playing Pokemon. Then I was probably far too obsessed with Pokemon.

I drew fanart, for heaven's sake. Fanart from the orginal Gameboy graphics.

Uh, you're not the only one Lunchy, I drew fan art from both the game and cards. And I played it on my clunky ass b/w screen grey-bodied Gameboy, but dammit I liked it.

Actually, I bet if I got some AA batteries, the thing would still work. But I think I'd play more Tetris than anything else. And Pokemon Pinball. Pokemon Pinball is so much fun...

Boro_Bandito:
Pokemon was the first game I had on gameboy. Pokemon Red, after my brother bought blue when it just came out. True, I didn't get mine until two weeks later, but you know what lunchy? YOU KNOW WHAT?!

Damnit I had forgotten how big the old gameboy is. I just dug it up out of the box where all of my old things go to die that have to much sentimental value to be thrown away. Along with my gameboy there's my gameboy pocket, my gameboy color, and my gameboy advance. See, now I remember why I didn't bother buying the fucking DS, its because I had spent too much money on too small a screen for too long.
