NoBrandCon 2009 Art Request

<< < (4/10) > >>

KharBevNor:
I have used all my skills and training to combine the best features of the submissions so far to create, if I do say so myself, what might well be the pinnacle of modern western poster art:

Fargo:
Hello,

Thank you for the rousing show of maturity and demeanor. Did I say I was looking for professional quality. No, you assumed that. Also, the NoBrandComic is not intended to be likened to the work of Miller or Moore or Watterson, it is just a chance for people to have their work seen by others. Added to that, we are not expecting someone to send us professional art for our flyers, banners, et cetera because we are a non-profit organization. We are not like Sogen or Kakkoicon which are run by corporations and can afford proffessional advertising. We are run on minimal funding by a volunteer staff of college students. Sorry, that we cannot afford to pay your commissioning fees you pretentious dinks. We are not expecting people to submit their masterwoks but any serious submissions are appreciated. Thank you for being mature and understanding.

Signed,

Fargo

KharBevNor:
'dinks'?

Sweet Jesus boy!

Also, whilst I'm vaguely on the subject of the ridiculously pretentious waffle you are spouting to try and sound intelligent and professional (Which is far more hilarious than our posters could ever be, given your fantastically parochial ideas of what constitutes a major convention or a great artist), a few pointers:

1) 'demeanour' refers to the manner in which someone behaves, and communicates no value judgements about that behaviour. All people 'show demeanour' at all times. You should probably just have kept at 'maturity'. Maybe put an adjective in in front of 'demeanour'.

2) Sentences that are questions end with question marks.

3) Commission refers to a scheme for paying, for example, salespersons, where a certain amount of money is paid for each unit sold. You simply pay artists for providing a valued professional service, as you would anyone else. No additional words to try and make yourself look more intelligent are required.

4) 'Dinks' is not a real swear-word, and makes you sound like a 12 year old, or a hick, or both. Try something more weighty and universal such as 'cock-suckers', 'goat-rapists', 'shit-snorters' or 'piss-junkies'.

5) When attempting to employ sarcasm, it is best not to repeat ones-self. You used the word 'mature', or a derivation hence, twice, indicating a limited vocabulary. This is obviously against the main goal of your posts, which is to try and make it sound like you are a man of high intellectual capacity whilst failing hilariously.

I suggest you find people that care about your convention.

Hugs and kisses,

öde.

Fargo:
Hello,

To my understanding of the conversation, it was implied we were looking to commission an artist for multiple pieces. So I used the term commission. Also, you are most likely using a dictionary to provide your definitions which is fine except that it does not provide for the fact that language changes faster than dictioanries can be updated. 'Commission' has come to define the act of paying an artist or professional for a service you have defined; as in 'to commission a piece of art'. That was the definition I was using. I also used 'dink' because I assumed that the board, like many others, generally forbids swearing.

Signed,

Fargo
