Definitely will be at one of those Braids shows. A couple friends of mine are in the band, and it's really awesome the sort of exposure they're getting right now.

20th's at La Sala Rossa, 7$ in advance, while the 27th will be at Maison des Arts of Laval, same price. Just saying. ;)
They really are the best band I've seen live in a while. Mindblowing. Just Mindblowing.

My friend keeps insisting I go see Dropkick Murphys and Against Me! next March for 30$.

Now I like Dropkick Murphys, but I've already seen them twice, and since Against Me! sucks now, that seems like a pretty steep price.

Eh, might end up going anyway.

Although I AM stoked to be going to Video Games Live in January. :D

I don't know what they're like/what they play on these bigger tours, but BSS have always been amazing when I've seen them here. Seeing Charles Spearin play anything is pretty much amazing.

Nah, the Boston area shows are usually always 30-35.

That said, skipping it this year. 5 years ago, I would have already got my tickets, but like you said, Against Me! are terrible now.

Wacken Line-ups shaping up nicely as always. Going to be plugging some pretty major holes in my list of metal bands I have to say, mostly the holes called Judas Priest, Sodom, Morbid Angel, Tsjuder and Mayhem, though I guess if I go see Ozzy I can basically say I've seen Black Sabbath since I saw Heaven and Hell before Dio died.

This might be the last Wacken I go to actually, at least for a while. I want to maybe save the money and go to some more targeted European gigs, which is pretty much the only way I'm going to be able to watch a lot of the post-industrial acts I want to see.

I also don't understand why Mogwai is touring all of Glasgow except for Edinburgh in the next month, but then come back up to Edinburgh after they've done the tour of England.

Yep, I'm looking forward to it.  Last time I saw them was at their supposed LAST. SHOW. EVAR. in 2003, which was a blast.

Man I'm jealous of your upcoming NOFX/Bouncing Souls show Aurjay. That sounds awesome.

As for myself this past weekend went and saw Reel Big Fish vs Aquabats. Aquabats rocked it hard and fish phoned it in with only 2 band members. Looking forward to Flogging Molly but I might not be able to go because of work.  :-(

In February, my lovely husband will be taking me to see Against Me! and Dropkick Murphys. It would have been awesome to see this exact same show 5 years ago, but from what I hear, both bands still put on a good show.

What stinks is that the day before, Naked Raygun is playing. If I could somehow swing both, I so would.

I know. I know... My husband bought the tickets for me as a birthday present. I feel like a jerk, but I would SO rather see Naked Raygun. He had no idea they were playing the night before.  :| Hopefully they play again in the near future.

I'm going to see Cat Power tonight! While I've been a fan of her music for ages and Moon Pix is one of my very favourite albums I've never seen her live, mainly because I was put off by too many stories from the late 90s/early 00s of her shows being absolute train wrecks. But I think she's tightened up her act since then? Anyway apparently Jim White's in her band tonight so that alone is going to be worth seeing.

Also Sufjan Stevens in just over a week. I thought his show was sold out but I looked again and apparently there were 24 seats left.

Oh hello there credit card, my old friend.

I just got back from Cat Power. A very large part of her set seemed to be composed of new songs, some of which sounded really good, but it would've been nice to hear some more familiar stuff, too. Though the older songs she did play was usually changed drastically: "The Greatest", for instance, was slowed down so much that it was almost unrecognisable. Nonetheless, there were a few highlights which I'll list in no particular order:

1) Jim White is currently sporting a mad scientist hair-do. Imagine a Russian icon, if the halo around the head was dark brown and made of hair. I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty awesome.
2) It was Chan Marshall's birthday, and after a few people shouted out happy birthday to her after a while into the set the crowd launched into a spontaneous chorus of "Happy Birthday". It was a pretty cute moment, and it was only made better by how obvious it was that no-one really knew how to pronounce the name "Chan", certainly not in an Australian accent, and the whole song dissolved into mumbles.
3) For the very last song Chan and the band played "Metal Heart", which was perhaps not surprising but was welcome all the same. I absolutely adore that song and I can truly say that very few performances have made me as happy as hearing that song being played with Jim White (who drummed on Moon Pix) behind the drumkit.
4) I met a really cute and really smart girl who when I suggested we keep in touch asked me my surname and promised to find me on Facebook!

EDIT: Oh, and 5) Chan Marshall, after playing a new song: "That song's not a virgin any more, but it wasn't fucked right."

Citizens Arrest/Haymaker/Career Suicide/Burning love show at the Wreckroom in Toronto. STOKED. Fuck, and then Agalloch, and The Appleseed Cast in April.

Also, DFA1979 playing Coachella makes it kind of okay to hope they get back together...or at least play more shows.

I've realised how odd my gig line up for this year must seem. Got Reel Big Fish (with Suburban Legends) in Feb. Iron and Wine in March. Children of Bodom (with Amon Amarth) in April.

Nothing for May at the moment. Ah well, there's time.
