I've been missing so many great concerts lately. *sigh*

I hope to make it to Fucked Up, unfortunately it's next Monday, and I have a test on Tuesday morning.

Hopefully the shows will fill out in May when I'm actually off school.

Speaking of shows filling out, Pitchfork doesn't seem as exciting as last year, does it? I might even skip it if I can't find a pad to crash in for free.

I was debating PMF this summer, but meh. I'l sure there'll be a show or two worth traveling to Boston for.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre never fail to impress.

Second time seeing them, mind even more blown than the first time.

I saw these guys for the second time last night too. They played a wide variety of songs (including Matt Hollywood stuff; he's back!) and no fights broke out. Joel had a "tambourine solo" which was hilarious. My only (slight) complaint was that they didn't do anything from their new album aside from "Yeah Yeah." But yea, it was an incredible show.

 :?

Fri: Beastie Boys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, The National, Fleet Foxes, Q-Tip, Shearwater, Flying Lotus.

Sat: My Bloody Valentine, Gogol Bordello, Arctic Monkeys, Neko Case, Crystal Castles, St. Vincent, Chairlift, Black Gold.

Sun: Echo & the Bunnymen, MGMT, The Black Keys, Silversun Pickups, Mogqai, We are Scientists, Lykke Li, Akron/Family.

I'd say it's a tossup between Saturday and Sunday (and Friday isn't bad AT ALL.)

Definitely not disappointing, if you ask me (considering the mediocre they've had in previous years, too.)  :-D

Years?  Do you mean last year?  I thought it was new last year.

And yea, I agree with Ballard, All Points West is the one festival thats close to me thats not utter shit (see: Bamboozle) that I would consider going to, but I'm not wasting money on that lineup.

Sunday is cool, Saturday is alright, Friday I'm not gonna blow 100 bucks just for Vampire Weekend and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Consider also that half of these acts will have conflicting time slots.

This Thursday: Dinosaur Jr.

Next Thursday: Man Man and Against Me! at different venues.

I will only be seeing Against Me! because of school.  They're also the only band that my friend (who is my ride) has any familiarity with.

EiTS were great live when I saw them. I'd recommend that, although a band with a name like Holy Fuck would, you'd assume be pretty awesome live. Although I have no idea what they sound like.

Mournful Congregation in SA in september! I've always been keen for the idea of an epic nullabor wave hunt, so I might as well conclude it with an epic doom concert.

High five, Beren, Cursive are hitting STL this month in a pretty small venue (firebird). I saw them last year at the Gargoyle, which is my least favorite venue. Should be a good time.

Holy jesus fucking christ that was the most awesomely primal and liberating musical explosion I have ever been consumed by. Of Montreal made me dance in ways that I have never danced before. I cannot even put into words how good they are live. INCREDIBLE SHOW. BREATHTAKING. HIPSHAKING. LOVEMAKING. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUCKING INTERGALATICALLY MINDBLOWING.

Seein' Bruce Springsteen in about two weeks. Laugh/gag all you want, the man is awesome.

Also, (hopefully) I'll be seeing Leonard Cohen, Grizzly Bear, TV On The Radio and the Subhumans soon as well.

I don't adore his music but I totally acknowledge and respect that he is the reigning badass of rock 'n' roll.

And not just them. Springsteen just has some sort of untouchable status among past and present rock stars. Let him be 'til he kicks the bucket. Consider it a lifetime achievement award.

I just got back from seeing The Thermals with Shaky Hands and Point Juncture, WA.  Pretty amazing show, but couldn't get any of my friends to go.  So I just kind of hung around a bar by myself between the sets.  I need to get some new non-sucky friends.

How about concerts I can't go to? I'll be in Japan for vacation for most of May, and on the 16th, MONO, Pelican and World's End Girlfriend all play at a mini festival in Tokyo. Of course, I'm in Osaka then, and can't reschedule. Aaaaargh.

There is a ridiculous amount of things going on this Saturday. All week I've gotten invites to things, been like "oh shit sweet!" and then realized I couldn't go because they are all Saturday night when my band has a gig.

Guys, on friday I played in the opening band for The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. It was one of the best shows I've ever been to, and/or played in. It's really strange because no one was that into it. They're much better live than they are on their album. I'm still recovering from it.
