Going to go see the Mountain Goats and James Blake soon! Within two days of each other.

Also, not going to a four day folk festival. Sad times.

Went to Stag & Dagger last night, saw Blue Sky Archives, Zeus, French Wives, Conquering Animal Sound, and The Rural Alberta Advantate.

All of them were excellent. In a week I'm headed to Primavera. Bring. It.

Edit: unless. of course. this fucking iceland volano causes all flights to get cancelled again.

This generation keeps waiting for a sign.

It isn't going to get one.

Man, that was the happiest gig. Best line - he forgot his lyric, stopped the song. The drummer ran on and off the stage to get something, and so he said:

"Everything happens for a reason. Not that I believe that! People who say that are just telling themselves that to reassure themselves, to keep the chaos at bay.

If everything happened for a reason, and you knew what that reason was, you'd be angry."

Win.

So I just got back from Sasquatch and my everything hurts.  It was the greatest weekend of music I could conceive of.  Front center at DFA1979 and Archers of Loaf.  Sleigh Bells and Thermals dance parties just to name a few.  Like, I kept thinking I'm too exhausted to work my way to the front of the stage, but it kept being worth it.

I've got Okkervil River with Titus Andronicus next month and Explosions in the Sky not too far off as well.  So, this is probably the best concert year I've ever had.

I saw the Dodo's a few months ago, and same issue, good show awful mixing. Anyways, I just got back from Kyle Kinane, which was awesome, and am seeing Parenthetical Girls this coming Monday. Then Yo la Tengo in just a week or so, this is a good month to be in Minneapolis.

Trufax: Elvis Costello regularly came by my coffee shop until about a year ago. Dunno where he went, but the dude is the most totally down-to-earth famous person I have ever known.

Tickets I want!!: Mountain Goats in 2 weeks, Decemberists in 2 months, Frank Turner & Andrew Jackson Jihad in 4 months.

I was going to see Archers of Loaf tonight. I was very excited. I made sure my work schedule wouldn't interfere with it.

Last weekend I got a bad ear infection that led to a perforated eardrum. No exposure to loud rock music for me for a while.

I saw PAWS, plastic animals, and Milk Maid last night. It was the second time I've seen PAWS in a month, and they are so frikken excellent. plastic animals were a pleasant surprise. Milk Maid were a bit disappointing, especially after PAWS performance.

There were so few people at Okkervil in Boise it was baffling.  I guess that is what happens when Cake and Black Lips play the same night.  TEENS opened up for the Black Lips and apparently got banned from the Boise Knitting Factory.

Joan of Arc were really fucking good last night. Bobby Burg is the nicest dude ever, Tim Kinsella's meandering stage banter made him pretty endearing and the music was just wow. They even played an Owls song. I was made up.

Support bands were all good as well. Hot Club de Paris sounded tight as usual. Min Diesel were good but it's a shame Seas,Starry had their set cut short by an ill-timed amp failure as I was really getting into them.

saw algernon, they were dope, i shouted and stage dived and banged on the stage and whatnot. rowdy time. only complaint is that the venue had a shitty pa system and you could barely hear the guitar for some reason. other than shit sound tho, good show.
