Seeing Slapping Purses and a few other bands tonight. Local sketchy venue, been there a bunch this summer. Should be good.

I saw Giraffes? Giraffes! last night. Mind-blowing musicians and it was a great performance. These guys have never come through Toronto, so it was cool seeing them.

seeing Alter Bridge in October in London, which I'm pretty excited about. They do some pretty cool Zeppelin/Ozzy covers too. I just have to forget that they ever went by the name of "Creed" with Mr Stapp.

I really want to see Two Door Cinema club, methinks they aren't touring the UK anytime soon...

Uhm they are? I don't think they've stopped since they got famous.

(I know someone who quit uni to be their roadie one and a half years ago).

True that, although so famous that every show is sold out. Although its cool they're playing some obscure venues.

Thing is about Canterbury, nobody ever goes there. Although I see most shows in London anyway.

So this was a gig ruined by a badly performed soundcheck, or maybe a soundman not listening at how horrible things sounded throughout the entire fucking set.

Pretty sure that's the norm for Neon Indian. It's been going on for so long it's probably got nothing to do with tour personnel.

Quote tunnel! Actually I saw them again on Saturday at a festival because apparently The Tallest Man on Earth cancelled (I was angry), and they sounded a lot better.

Also. LCD Soundsystem was really mindblowing live. I have mixed feelings about Fever Ray, pretty awesome visually but after like 5 minutes you got the gist of the show. Sounded fantastic though. Caribou was not at all what I expected and was amazing. The National were pretty awesome as well.

The venue is less than 2 minutes away from my flat, I love this city.

Also, I'm going to go to a gig in Glasgow on the 30th of a couple of local Glasgow bands - Barn Owl (I met these guys in Barcelona and they're pretty awesome/good), Dam Mantle, Conquering Animal Sound, and Song of Return that are trying to raise money to open a venue in Glasgow.

Entry is 5 pounds, and it's at Stereo, and there'd be DJing late into the night interested?

WILCO?

why have I not heard about this?

I went to Dublin with one of my goals being to watch The Tallest Man on Earth and they CANCELLED! So, I will be there.

SHIT WILCO! My discount train tickets may be of use after all!

PS you should get that, not that Edinburgh is interesting if you're in Glasgow, but it's 25 quid that makes travel in the UK about 40% cheaper.

Ugh so I will not make it to Wilco due to a pretty large bill that I hadn't foreseen finding it's way to my mailbox, but I WILL make it to The Tallest Man on Earth seeing how that's a few months away still and I'll have money by then. Sucks about Wilco though.

Tonight I went to a local tiny pub/venue I love called the Old Bar and saw a couple of bands for only A$7 including Emperor X all the way from the U.S. I think I've vaguely heard of him before but I wasn't familiar with any of his music - turns out he's awesome! His songs are great and he's a totally engaging performer. (The Old Bar is about the size of a large sitting-room and always has great music, including sometimes overseas bands who are yet to make names for themselves - Okkervil River performed there on their first trip to Australia.)
