It was the contrast of styles I liked. The flat tone at first and then the watercolorish look for the other bit. I think that was it.

It's from the new House of Mystery, a sort of spin-off from Gaiman's Sandman universe (though not involving Gaiman) and a sort of reboot of an old DC series also called House of Mystery.
