We both wear full face helmets (not really a choice, it's law in MD) but I don't have leathers. The vegetarian thing kind of gets me icked out about wearing lots of leather:/

There's a reason leather is the typical outfit of a biker. It's not a style thing, leather will save your life. Principles are one thing, but nothing's going to protect you if you dump a bike than leather, short of like chain mail or something else that is too cumbersome to ride in.

Not necessarily true - there are fabric riding jackets and gloves that will protect you too, as long as you're not off hitting Mack trucks head-on, in which case you're probably effed anyway. My husband went down on his bike on an off-ramp and the only damage to his jacket was a bit of a busted seam on the elbow pad, while his knee was ripped up and his jeans destroyed. Also, I don't know that a full-face helmet is a state law, but god why would you wear anything less..

I've been looking into non-leather ballistic/kevlar stuff, but I'm also poor. Luckily it's too cold now to ride so maybe I will be safe enough by next spring.

I went to a parade a couple months back. There I found a person with a booth. Selling a little Buddha. I bought it.

My favorite part of the Godfather is where the whole family is about to sit down and eat and you see Sonny Corleane wearing suit pants, a white beater, and suspenders, and he looks like the biggest baddest mofo around. If I could pull it off a quarter as awesome as he does, then i wouldn't wear anything else ever.

I'm a big fan of the suit pants and suspenders as well... usually just with a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, though. Good job!
