How can I be wrong about something that is entirely subjective?  Some people just don't click with some games/movies/music/books/art/whathaveyou, they're not automatically wrong for not liking it.  If someone is playing Nickelback at a party, you don't say "you're wrong/have a shitty taste in music/were dropped on your head as a child and/or huffed too much paint in high school";  you ask them politely to play something else (if they're a good host, they'll acquiesce), and if they don't, just find a quieter corner of the house.

Of course, none of this applies when you're a fanboy.  I nearly got stabbed with a spork (I got lucky, I was wearing a thick hoodie) for saying I didn't like FF7 that much, by someone who had dressed up as Vincent Valentine the previous Halloween.

Basically what I'm saying is, people who don't respect the opinions of others get lumped into the group I label "dickwads".

--- Quote from: Anyways on 08 Aug 2008, 19:27 ---When someone says "it wasn't that good" how's about we all interpret that as "I didn't think it was that good" instead of "I am making a statement that says this game is not all that good" because that is obviously not the case when we are talking about art in any form - it cannot be perceived objectively in any way, so why make it sound like others are trying to describe it that way?

Because some people - including some on this forum - have in fact used "X is not good" as shorthand for "No, really, X is not good and people who think X is good are stupid".

Precision.  It's what's in.

I doubt anybody has said something with that intent. I've seen a few tongue in cheek comments in that vein but I don't think I've seen any serious comments that say that.

SirHardHead:
I really enjoyed Wolfenstein, Doom and then later on Age of Empires I & II.
