As Jackie said; AOE1&2 is good games, but both have some missions that are impossibly hard. Like the AOE1 missions where you had to cross a fucking mile of enemy troops that were better than your own, without any healers or chances to rebuild. The only way to win was to use some ridiculous amounts of hit and run tactics.

And I just tried that AOE2 mission. It can be done, if you are able to survive the frustration of the bloody longbowmen that always makes you units run outside the walls to be slaughtered. If I'd bothered to do it all again, I'd have to use a hefty amount of conversion power.

OP: try out dungeon siege 2. It's the best mindless grind feast ever.

A brilliant and immensely underrated RPG: Arcanum. BUY THIS GAME. It's fantastic. It's set in this weird Victorian, steam-punk, machines and magic world and it has such incredible replayability b/c of how customizable the characters are and....well it's one of my favorite games ever.

A brilliant and immensely underrated FPS: No One Lives Forever. Seriously, this is one of the most enjoyable shooters I've ever played. I love it! Intentionally campy/goofy/hilarious Bond era spy action with an appropriately nutty plot, great villains and some of the best, most innovative levels I've come across in the genre. Lots and lots of fun.

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE

Actually one thing you gotta look out for with that one is the surprisingly steep system reqs. It looks worse than the Fallouts but my lappy, on which I could play the Fallouts handily, could not run it. Unoptimized engine! Unoptimized game, really.

Aww c'mon, what was wrong with Arcanum? Any niggling bugs were fixed in patches and everything else was awesome.

How about the Marathon series? You can download it for free at the Bungie webstie!
