i was not fashionable in high school at all. during my first couple of years i only wore my older sisters' hand me downs. everything had to be ridiculously hemmed cos they are each like eight inches taller than me. it wasn't even a financial issue, but that i was completely indifferent and lazy when it came to what i looked like. by my senior year i had greasy dyed hair and wore the same massive wide-legged pants and two or three itty bitty t-shirts every day. all of them had been found at a thrift store but they were not good finds, they were probably at that thrift store for a reason.

it has been a few years since i got out of high school and i think i dress alright now. i still don't know anything about fashion and only just recently figured out how to buy shirts and jeans in the right size. i still sort of wear the same thing every day, but i think i get away with it cos there is a bit more variety? but basically my wardrobe is a couple of pairs of jeans and a bunch of tee- and long-sleeved shirts, and some sweaters. i have one pair of shoes and one pair of boots. because i only ever have a few items of clothing at any one time, i find it really difficult to accumulate a wardrobe cos i end up wearing those few things so much they just fall apart after a couple of years. i am sort of terrified of venturing anywhere outside my safe bubble because i don't know shit about outfits or accessories or shoes or any of that crap. i do like fashion though, i like to look at well-dressed people. it's like an art. maybe i'll learn one day.

I am always intrigued when it shows up that Jho was the last poster in the fashion thread because it is invariably something amusing and completely trivial and unrelated to fashion at all.

man why would I talk about fashion

It's both worrying and comforting that Tania and I have a wardrobe which is basically interchangeable, right down to the underwear.

yo lunchy

how are yr dr.denim's coming along?

They are going slowly! I wear them as often as I can and they are starting to get some very subtle creases in them. No point taking a photo, really.

if the reason you think this is comforting is because it means you can borrow clothes from me in case you ever need to, forget about it. i don't want your junk all up in my underwear.

Sleeping in your jeans really only helps if you need to stretch them out, you don't move nearly enough to fade them while sleeping, and if you did you'd ruin your bedsheets with indigo.

If you sleep with your legs bent, your honeycombs will come in faster. If you sleep with your wallet in your back pocket, that fade comes in faster. Real talk it makes a difference. And I have blue sheets.

I can't sleep in jeans either. Well, I can, but my legs feel horrible afterwards. Same goes for sitting long periods, I avoid wearing jeans on days I'm going to be in the car for a long time.

Wait, Sam's only in highschool? He looks like he should be about finished with college.

Liz is OK too I guess.

Dear Fashion Thread:

Today the post-Christmas sales snaked me in with their snakey tendrils, like snakes. Long Story short I bought the shiniest shoes ever. Also some genuine Ray-Ban Wayfarers, black ones in the smaller rounder style, to complement the large boxy red knock-off Wayfarers I have.

Sleeping in jeans is weird in that if it is with another person in the bed, your legs will roast and sweat then you will wake up because your legs are soo hot. Sleeping on top of the covers is best, even if not sharing a bed more for comfort than body heat regulation though.
Exhaustion for whatever reason leading to sleeping on the floor for 2-3-4 days (LAN party/weekend long house party) means you really stop caring and are just glad to have something to protect you from the elements but your jeans will become cold to touch and make you cold, so wrap a jacket/tarpaulin/rug etc. around yourself loosely.
Sleeping in jeans is easy but I only do it because I have to, not through choice.

I sleep in my one pair of jeans pretty often. They're also not that tight fitting, so I think that helps. When I've fallen asleep with my tighter jeans on, I wake up halfway through the night and take them off because it feels like they are strangling my legs at the knees.
I fell asleep sunday wearing all of my clothes. I pretty much fell into bed with a hoodie, tshirt, jeans and socks on. Its not that bad to fall asleep in, but I woke up and had to take them off.

the fact that you made that coat pretty much makes you the biggest badass in all 51 pages of this thread.
if i could make coats, i don't even know what i would do with myself except sit around all the time, being awesome and occasionally letting people bask in my awesome. and make a coat now and then i guess.

The coat is fairly awesome, particularly that you made it.

But man, that outfit. I know you are a pretty lady from other pictures and I like girls who dress like dudes and I also like dudes, but that is too much.

Actually, I think it could work without the hat. The hat is ruining everything for me. Enough with the hat.

Fashion thread and/or ladies! How the hell do you avoid squeaking bras? Some seem to squeak no matter what, and those I just don't buy, but some start to squeak after being washed a couple of times, and it drives me nuts. My favourite bra, which fits awesomely, was expensive and is of great quality has started squeaking.. This shouldn't be happening.

Should I maybe start using fabric softener or something?

I have never noticed my bras squeaking.... I don't throw them in the dryer though.  Do you?  That could be it.  If the material shrinks at all, that might be part of the problem.

Nope, never the dryer on anything but sport bras. I just wash them on the lowest setting (30ºC, and the wool-thing, so the machine is gentler), so they shouldn't be shrinking either.

I have had friends with the same problem, but none of them have found a solution, so I guess/hope it's sort of a common problem, maybe?

I hate bras with a vengance. I need to buy new ones and this makes me sad. I've reached the depressing point where even the specialist lines don't stock my size and I feel like a breast reject :-(

As for squeaking, do they have underwiring? Maybe the wires have altered shape a little and are rubbing against the fabric? It's not a problem I've ever had but that sounds like it must be incredibly annoying.

Yeah, it's always the ones with underwiring (and especially the ones with side-wires), whether they're plastic or metal. And yes, it's annoying as hell. Makes this squeaky sound every time I move my upper body, so it renders them unusable.

I think maybe I'll try fabric softener the next time I wash them, and see if that helps, but I'm kinda wondering if I'm doing something wrong in the first place, though I cannot figure out what.

(And I'm with you on hating bras, but I can't exactly get away with not wearing one either, so I'm trying to learn to like them.)

I have never had a problem with bras squeaking, even the cheapos that I usually buy.

But guys. GUYS. I finally bought myself a fancy-pants bra from Victoria's Secret. It is red and lovely and was really cheap because it's the Semi-Annual Sale right now. $13.99!

Me wearing a cowboy hat is ironic.   That is the point of the avatar.  I guess you'd have to know me to understand that.    Us Midwesterners are a different breed.

I was told this was a tough forum with tough cookies by the friend who referred me here, so I just came out guns blazing.   I was really worried about that internet acceptance factor.   I wasn't sure my real life ego could handle the shock of non-acceptance from international kids and trendsetters the world over.   Forgive me.

I never really got why you'd want to race to speed up fading anyway, new indigo jeans look really fucking nice and dark, wearing them faster just means they'll probably blow out faster.

And suit sleeves should fall so you can see an inch or so of shirt sleeve, so around your wristbone yeah.

Katie recommended figleaves a while ago in this thread; it is very good for those of us with (apparently) giant boobs.

www.figleaves.com

I just got my first order and the bra doesn't fit. It's a 36G (US) which is the size I wear but the bra itself doesn't fit true to size. Since I ordered it on sale, I can only return it for a refund. Though I plan on getting a size larger in the same bra cuz it's fucking cute.
