Unfortunately, his dreams would enjoy it
They do seem to have some sort of urine fetish.

And also, the green boat bow tie isn't really one that I would wear anywhere that wasn't all family. If I was to go in public, I would get a less stupid one.

Man if I had to wear a tuxedo I would still rock with with my doc martens. I wil not brook bow ties (or ties) on any occasion.
Some boots can actually pass for formal shoes pretty well, as long as nobody looks too close. Mine do, and would do so better if they weren't scuffed up where I crawled around on concrete for a couple days. Or, you can get the formal-ish shoes made by boot companies, which should work as well.

No more about bowties but speaking of dress shoes. I knew a rather old guy who bought some low top chucks and spray painted them black. He wore them as dress shoes.
Strike that. He rocked them.

Im glad you are over the bowtie thing, the fashion gods say no.

Now as far as spray painted chucks, thats a rather tricky thing to pull off.  Once again, its more of a finishing piece of an ensemble, not a rock you can build from.

Underscore? What?

Oh sorry. But I guess I just feel like being annoying about bowties lately. I'm not always this inquisitive.

Man if I had to wear a tuxedo I would still rock it with a regular tie. I will not brook bow ties on any occasion.
But you would look excellent! You were born to wear it, ripping off your bow tie and shirt sleeves over the course of the night.

Actually this reminded me of the one circumstance I would wear a bowtie: Untied and all hangin' from the collar.

Also Dan how did you know that it is my dream to own a suit with removable sleeves

They sell monochrome black Chucks. My friend is sitting next to me as I type and has a pair on.

I have a pair of those, as does my girlfriend. I quite like them as they are comfy as all hell. Also since my pair have been around and about for quite some time they've faded a little so they're kind of a really dark grey-green colour.

the best people i have seen wearing monochrome black chucks also have children and painted-on eyebrows, and are too young to vote

the best person i have seen wearing a bowtie has a radio show where he is slated to interview (among others) a.c. newman, feist and blitzen trapper, and has interviewed shad, lykke li, the acorn and a tonne of other bands, plus he won a national award for his girl talk interview

We've been over this. Time Lord or no sneakers with a suit is fucking unforgivable. That is such a kickass ensemble until we get to ground level and he ends up looking like a bum all because of the shoes. Can we all just get over our huge fanboners for Tennant and admit that the outfit below would be improved immeasurably by a mean pair of brogues?

(P.S; Sam did you end up posting pics of yours? Don't hold out, doggle.)

I'm sorry, but this really wasn't a 'I love Tennant and/or Timelords' thing. I really believe that what the man wears in that series is something I might wear. Different colours, maybe but the same principle. Including the sneakers. To add: brogues suck. And hurt.

Man fuck you guys hating on the sneakers they are OK, the sneakers with the suit has been part of Tennant's charm as the doctor. If he were to were fancy shoes he'd look fancy and proper, but he is wearing sneakers with his suit and that totally sums the fun-ness of his character, he's a sharp dressed man with cool casual sneakers. Suits look good but he like's his shoes. That costuming choice was genius and you are all retarded.

Ok fashion advice thread, for the sake of something to do I'm going to post a bunch of pictures of the stuff that I usually wear. In the past my fashion sense has been likened to that of a "gay cyborg vampire" and that's really not about to change. However I'm interested in what you guys, specifically the ones who get all passionate and seem to care about Fashion think I should be wearing.

I'm not going to actually take your advice, I like the way I dress. But I am honestly interested to know what you think I'm meant to be wearing.

You make extremely good points, it works great for the character, but if you are going to a formal place, would you wear sneakers or would you shell out the 20-30 dollars (that'd be USD) for some okay looking dress shoes? Especially if you aren't wearing formal attire that often, it's a solid choice to make.
Personally, I bought some extremely classy looking Sketchers dress shoes that cost me 60USD, but are quite comfortable and are also slip on style so I never have to worry about laces, or the tongue or anything. They look fucking fantastic, honestly.

If I were going to a formal place I would wear formal shoes. If I was just wearing a suit around because I wanted to I would wear whatever shoes give optimal function/comfort, and those would probably not be snazzy shoes, especially if the snazzy shoes cost thirty bucks.

I wear my sneakers when I'm wearing a dress just to hang around, but I would not wear sneakers to a wedding. Unless it was my own, but at this rate, I think if/when I get married, I may do it barefoot.

Jimmy, I love your girlfriend's hair! Totally unrelated to the topic at hand, but fiercely true.

Speaking of marriage, I am going to a couple of really great friends of mine's wedding this summer and this will require me to wear a dress. Any suggestions on its style/colour/shoes? I'm curious to hear your suggestions. Please note that I kind of have tubby arms, hehe.

I love weddings cuz I love to play dress up. When is the wedding and is it indoors or out? If it's outdoors you should probably opt for a no heel or maybe a chunky heel if you can find a not ugly one unless you want to aerate the ground. For me, I got this awesome red dress with short sleeves that kind of puff a little bit and it's knee length and it's awesome because I can wear it year round. It is good in winter with tights and a jacket and in spring and fall with a little cardigan thing. Or when the Australians all went bocce-ing I think something like Lunchy's dress especially would be fetching. It was kind of just formal enough but not too formal since you're not actually going to prom. (All those ladies had nice dresses)

Basically just find a dress you think rules and add shit/take away shit so you're comfortable weather wise. If the wedding has an awesome theme then go for that. You know what looks good on you!

Actually just go dress shopping and then take pictures of everything. Yes!

Jimmy you look damn good in a suit, do that more.

I was actually going to post something more or less saying that I was quite aware that the sneakers with suit thing factored in to Tennant's portrayal of the doctor and I think it was a smart thing but that by no means makes it an O.K. fashion choice for us mere mortals. Now stop saying it is O.K. or you will not need a police box to travel in time because I will knock your ass in to next week

Jimmy - your style rocks, especally your choice of suits. The only thing I would say about those photos is that I am not at all a fan of the jumper you are wearing in the third photo.

Well fashion thread I have apparently been stimulated by the government (ie the australian government stimulus package that was mentioned in an earlier thread) however my bank balance is currently showing no signs of it - if it ever does I shall be taking that $900 and buying myself some more semi formal gear so that I can basically dress that way all the time. Photos may ensue.

Also ben, how do you not own some form of kickass suit yet?
