Does anyone have favorite songs... but have no clue what they're singing? LOL

Share your favorite non-English songs, so we can all be musically confused!

Om Hundrede Aar Er Alting Glemt - Lumsk
Vänner och Fränder - Garmarna
Veli - Hedningarna
Ryczące Dwudziestki live performance
Suvetar - Gjallarhorn
Dola re Dola - Devdas (movie)
Mera Long Gawacha - Musarrat Nazir (ok ok if you can ignore the *video* the song is good... the video is...skary!

"Tout Document" by Feist

Also a bunch of Pillows songs as well as a bunch of Can songs.

"Eiskalt Erwischt" by Eiscrecher
"Everlasting" by Galneryus
"Krabat" by ASP
"Regin Smiour" by Tyr

Everything Eisbrecher and ASP play are in German, about half of Tyr's stuff is in Faroese and a few songs by Galneryus are in Japanese.

I really like those last two! (the first two are a bit hard for my taste)

Ooh here's another one:

Islaja, Sigur Ros, Francoise Hardy and Hanggai are the first that come to mind, but I am sure there are more.

Also, whilst not in a language other than English, most Cap'n Jazz songs might as well be.

And that song from Yelle in the Worst Band Ever thread. So catchy, so hot.

I'm sorry for these huge "quote all" posts but I like replying to things together and it helps me get used to the people on a forum quicker :)

99 Luftballons by Nena, and some NEU! songs.
I like when people like music I like.

Also a bunch of Pillows songs as well as a bunch of Can songs.

You and me would get along. Musically, anyways.

mai-a-hii, mai-a-huu, mai-a-hoo, mai-a-ha-ha...

Was waiting for this, haha. My friend speaks Romanian, so the song doesn't have as much novelty for him.

Oh man, how could I forget "Foux De Fa Fa" by Flight of the Conchords?

Okay, we'd just get along in general. LOVE that song.

Also, I like Polysics, Can, Neu!, Kraftwerk, Sigur Ros, El Guincho... so I've got a bunch of foreign going on. Oh and Tunak Tuank Tun, to represent my own culture

Not my translation, but here;

I drift in the evening, thinking and struggling,
I am like a Boat capsized
and though I lament and suffer
still I see no Solution.
But why should I be so hard betrodden?
In hundred Years everything is forgotten.
So then I sooner put an end to the Struggle
and go to Sea with my paining Soul.
The world will find me there sometime later
so bitterly drowned to death.
But why should my end be so rotten?
In hundred years everything is forgotten.

Great band and great song, but unfortunately, random French annoys the hell out of me. Coincidentally, I would say Belle Apoque is my favorite foreign band. They're amazing

But not Daitro?

If you like Envy you will probably enjoy Daitro. French scremo with slight slight oh so slight hints of post-rock. Absoutely superb. I know their split with Sed Non Satiata is in the medaifire thread, go download it!

Actually Sed Non Satiata write some of the best songs not in english too. I best not start listing scremo bands like this, I could go on forever.

Cantando en Español by NoFX is very, very funny, but only if you speak Spanish.

Despues de 235
canciones, los liricos se valuan mas
y no tengo ningunos para esta

El Hefe canta melodia triste
o canta amor de la corazon
haz como que hable español

Ojala que la mayoria
de nuestros aficionados
no entiendan nada que canto
para los otros: chinga su madre, guey

I can't be bothered to translate, except the last bit says:
I hope most
of our fans
don't understand anything I sing
For everyone else, fuck your mom, dude.

The Beatles - Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand? In english its "I wanna hold your hand" one of their most popular songs.

yeah i, tell you something i think you'll understand
when i, say that something: I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand
I wanna hold your hand

and when I touch you I feel happy, inside
Its such a feeling that my love
I can't hide
I can't hide...

Etc. There's more I cant be bothered to type. But yeah-- look up "I wanna hold your hand" and you'll find the original, english lyrics!

...what point are you making? Are we translating all the songs in the thread? The Sigur Ros fans might be around for a while.

Speaking of parody foreign songs, I think El Corazon by Hard 'n Phirm is brilliant. Sounds just like a Spanish love song to the uneducated, but it's really just a detailed explanation of the human heart.

I was just expressing my surprise that this person knew this song as "Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand" as they are a British band. It's a geocentric point of view I hold, but I was really surprised that someone didn't know the song in its english form.

That someone was me, and I was being ironic. I think I actually said 'the hell with it' or something before mentioning it.

Noone likes Basshunter. It's like a terrible, terrible nerdy Cascada clone.

I have a friend who used to play both DotA and Boten Anna every time I hung out with him. He stopped after I got pissed at him one day because I was sick and tired of hearing shitty pop (Basshunter is the least of some of the crap he listens to).

Two that come to mind are:

Cesaria Evora - Coragem Irmon

Magic Sound System - Premier Gaou

And one that I only understand, like, half of:

Manna Dey - Coffeehouser sei adda - one of my favourite songs from my childhood, about hanging out at the coffeehouse all those years ago and how such things are no more :(
