Are your favourite bands defunct?/alternative recommendation thread

Wasteroo:
Call me out of the loop, but I had no idea Grandaddy was defunct. And I love Sumday so much, too...

squawk:
SOPHTWARE SLUMP IS BETTERRRRR

(I love Sumday too.) Yeah, they announced their disbandment before they released their last album in 2006. I was very sad; they were my first favorite "indie rock" band.

Wasteroo:
Oh, okay, as long as it was recent. I wasn't too out of the loop.

Also, you inspired me to go out and spend $12 on that album at the local record store. I'm listening to it right now, and it's damn good, even without all the nostalgia value Sumday has for me.

Thrillho:

Because they get mentioned so much on here that I am never going to listen to a fucking note of their music due to how masturbatory the praise of them is?

As for My Bloody Valentine, they're 'still' around, are they? I thought they'd reformed.

Pavement broke up in '99... only ten years out of the loop...

Hat:
I only listen to bands that make brand new music.
p.s. I am ok with this

Listen to Crookers, you cunts
