Christophe:
I was wondering who Walter Malling was when he came up in discussion of Boys Life on EA.

Additional question:

Keeping in mind I'm not looking to specifically investigate past one CD, as far as Funkadelic is concerned, should I go for cohesion (Maggot Brain) or should I got for quantity (The Whole Funk And Nothing But The Funk, which does include 'Maggot Brain' itself)?

Wasteroo:
How in fuck has no one mentioned Neutral Milk Hotel yet?

On topic, I've just gotten exposed to a lot of classic stuff by bands from the 80s/90s, but besides Pavement, I'm not sure how many of them are still active. Is My Bloody Valentine still around?

I know I could just look it up on Wikipedia, but I just love you guys so much.

KvP:
Defunked bands:
Coil
The Birthday Party
Aphex Twin (sort of, not really)
Kyuss

Pretty much every band on that list is a band I was going to list. I even thought of making a similar Polvo joke.

I will add:

Don Cab - I think we concluded in the Don Cab thread a couple days ago the new incarnation doesn't count.
Sleater-Kinney
Bear vs Shark - this one makes me the most sad, because while Don Cab and Sleater-Kinney both had pretty awesome careers, Bear vs Shark only had two albums and they were just starting to get truly amazing.
