This penguin is now officially more successful than I will ever be.

I honestly can't think of anything cooler than actually having a ceremony to knight a penguin.

Next thing you know there will be penguin wars , with penguin barons and knights rising in the penguin feudal system.

Basically I want to see penguins swordfight.

Um, why not? It's penguins, like, fighting. Respect the google-fu, man.

Daniel, that was crap. A true google-fu warrior would have found something that was at least mildly entertaining and not obnoxious.

Like this?

Yes, exactly. It was very amusing, didn't feature a nu metal soundtrack and wasn't unnecessarily long.

Why don't they knight a bear? They have bears in Scandinavia, right? A bear would be a much more effective night.

And King whateverhisnameis in Swaziland could knight a Lion, and then Norway and Swaziland can go to war, and we'll see who wins the Battle of the Non-Homo Sapien Mammalian Knights

haha, you watched it? I didn't watch the whole thing, I just skipped through a couple parts to make sure it was something like the title.

And I am not Daniel. I'm his annoying internet alter-ego. Daniel in real life is not an ass, isn't presumptuous, and is outgoing without being obnoxious. He lets all his bad parts hang out on teh interwubz.

Anyways, what the hell is that? (Ok, it is stupidly hard to try to refer to the poster right above me by screen name... does they have another nick name?)

Has anybody noticed that the penguin (the original one and this one) didn't actually do anything to gain this knighthood?

Norway knighted a penguin, for no reason.

And would sir penguin like some tea? Yes sir. Straight away sir.

That's only if it is an adorable baby penguin who can't quite feed itself yet.

Even then you wouldn't have to regurgitate tea to a baby penguin, because it is tea

They can swallow it just fine

Penguin Nils Olav has been an honorary member and mascot of the Norwegian King's Guard since the 1972.

I like that. I think I might start putting "the" before all years now. If nothing else, the 2008 will be remembered for this!

EDIT: also, that looks like a King Penguin to me. So technically I think it's been demoted.

Isn't it called an Emperor Penguin? Not king? I mean, nitpicking, yes, but I was fairly certain it was Emperor. Or maybe even Imperial.

oh man penguins

I really like Macaroni penguins. Rockhoppers are pretty similar, actually, except they usually look like they've got little wee mohawks. Emperors and kings are what people think of when they think of penguins, though.

One would hope that, now that you have learnt the differece, you would remember it and not have to ask nor indeed make the same mistake again.

Emperors and kings are what people think of when they think of penguins, though.

Depends where you live. In Australia, I think most people would think of the Fairy or Little Penguin first. Because it's the only penguin that's found on mainland Australia and we're ridiculously parochial here, I guess.

Fairy or Little Penguin

CUTEST THING EVAR!!!! I think we call those guys Blue Penguins, but I'm not totally positive...I could be thinking of something else, but they're pretty similar looking.

Edit: By "we", I mean my friends and I. You may not actually realize this, but PQ stands for Penguin Queen. I am a -huge- Penguin fan. In fact, for Christmas one of my friends purchases me a book all about penguins! When we see fuzzy little blue ones like that, we just call them Blue Penguins. The ones I'm thinking of in particular might actually be baby emperor penguins actually. I will have to check...but my book is like six inches out of my reach and I am lazy and tired...

Man, I am also a bit of a penguin obsessive. I have a cuddly penguin, a penguin snowglobe, a mechanical penguin that wanders round crapping out sweets, a floating bath penguin, penguin earrings...

You know what... I think I may have actually gotten one for Christmas one year and it was lost amid the shuffles between home ands school and jazz. My Mom -loves- those things! She's got a  moose and a cow actually....and a reindeer, I think.

I have always wanted one of these(WARNING: NSFW!) just so I can say "Hey, guess where I got that! And what it really is!" My former roommate was all for this idea, by the way, but I don't think my new roomie would be too keen on the idea...
