Tropical Storm Fay
« on: 16 Aug 2008, 16:49 »

I heard about "Tropical Storm Faye" that is menacing the Dominican Republic on the radio this morning. When I checked the internet, I found that "Tropical Storm Faye" was actually spelled "Tropical Storm Fay". Sigh.

For what it's worth, here's a nice satellite image of it.

I heard about the hurricane on the radio and the first thing that came to my mind was QC.  :-) Then I thought, I wonder if someone will make a thread about this on the message boards.

When I was doing receptionist duty yesterday a client kept repeating "I wanta talkta Hanners!" I sort of jumped a little, especially since there's nobody named Hanners/Hanna in this office. Turns out it was just a heavily accented woman asking for a man named Herbert.  :-P

That is some heavy accent. Those don't sound alike at all and I can't think of any accent that would make Herbert sound like Hanners. I think you have an unhealthy obsession.. go outside.

Your mom goes outside.

And I guess Hanners wasn't my first thought... it sounded more like Hannnnbaah and I was like "Hannah?" and she was "No, is Hhhaaannnbattt!" and I was like "Hanbat?" which made me think of Hanners. It was a Russian or Russian like accent, for what that's worth.

Also I should add that this is someone I rarely receive calls for and there are like fifty people on our switchboard.

I think we're all missing the important point here- what on earth could Tropical Storm Fay(e) be an innuendo for? Destructive hip gyration and times-of-the-month come to mind.

Am I the only one who is somewhat disappointed that Fay didn't hit Savannah?

And now there's Tropical Storm Hannah(lore). What have we done that Poseidon sends these QC-related storms upon us?
