Hey,

If you're like me and live in shit-ass nowhere (horray Nova Scotia, Canada), you really gotta work to pimp out your favorite local bands.
Since this place is full of music keeners, I figured it would be a great place for everyone to pimp out your favorite local artists.  Now I'm not talking about if you live in like... california or boston or something, because they have their own full blown underground scene.  I mean if you're in a small city or town or something.

Since local bands like this don't have the population to draw on, and dont always get the exposure they deserve, lets give em a boost and pimp out your favorite local bands here!  show us a few of your favorite songs/vids and make us buy their shit!

Here we go, to start off, here are my favorite local bands!

Wintersleep:
Currently my favorite.  They are no "The Tea Party", but solid catchy songs are just fun to listen to.

Joel Plaskett
An east coast canadian rock music icon, unfortunatlly never seemed to get out of the east coast.  Very fun and down to earth lyrics.

In-flight safety
Some people think they sound like Coldplay. I guess I can hear it a bit, but they have put out a good number of solid songs with their own sound. nice alt-pop-rock kinda thing going.

Rebekah Higgs
Very nice voice.  Live concerts are interesting when she has to do all the parts herself. soft indie-folk kind of music. very nice and soothing.

Hey Rosetta
More bands need a violin and cello in their standard repertoire. Ok, so I cheated a bit on this one.  Not from my hometown, but another small east-coast Canadian city (even capital cities are small on the east coast  :-P ).

Johnny C:
I have seen three of these acts live, I keep missing chances to go see Wintersleep and Hey Rosetta! was through a while back.

Plaskett in particular is quite easily one of Canada's best songwriters.

TheFuriousWombat:
I only know about Wintersleep on that list. I saw them open for Wolf Parade and kind of wish the line-up had been the other way around. They're awesome!

Nekkoru:
Okay, Polish alternative rock for you:

Johnny C:
Regina's Sylvie are headed out on tour with Minus The Bear in October.
