I would have liked to see Born Ruffians and the Acorn on the shortlist, but I hope Plants & Animals or Caribou win the prize.

I think we coulda narrowed it down to this and the decision would have been much harder.

The Acorn - Glory Hope Mountain
Black Mountain - In The Future
Cadence Weapon - Afterparty Babies
Caribou - Andorra
HILOTRONS - Happymatic
Corb Lund - Horse Soldier! Horse Soldier!
Sadies - New Seasons
Socalled - Ghetto Blaster
Two Hours Traffic - Little Jabs
Wintersleep - Welcome To The Night Sky

It'll either go to Basia Bulat or Plants And Animals.

I can't make myself like that album. The songs sound good live, but the record seems to fall flat for me.

I'd pull for Holy Fuck, Two Hours Traffic or Black Mountain. If I had to choose one I'd choose Two Hours Traffic.

It'll probably go to Stars or some shit.

I love Wintersleep, so I would have liked to see them win. But I can also back The Weakerthans. Go them!

Protest The Hero - Fortress

Your list is broken.

Also, I'm kinda sad that Silver Mt. Zion is not on the short list. Am I the only one who thinks that is the album of the year so far?

My biggest issue is the lack of LADYHAWK and the inclusion of CANCER BATS.

Reunion Tour!  Though there are a lot of excellent albums up there.  I was pretty surprised to see Christine Fellows on there.  She makes some excellent tunes.

I think it'll be the Weakerthans, because that album was kind of a comeback album for them, wasn't it? i remember a ton of excitement for it coming out. plus it was generally excellent.

I guess not really a comeback, but a lot of people were pretty psyched about it since it'd been like 4 years since their last. i'd go with the Weakerthans anyway.

Nothing on that list is particularly exciting.

Given limited options I'd go with Black Mountain.

Ladyhawk, Silver Mt. Zion and Wintersleep should have been on the list over Kathleen Edwards, Shad and The Weakerthans [love the band but the new album is kinda weak]. Wintersleep put out the best album on the longlist in my opinion. I guess the best albums on the shortlist are the Holyfuck, Caribou and Black Mountain releases. Stars was pretty decent but far from their best. Can't really guess who's going to win though since these things never go how I expect.

...and The Weakerthans [love the band but the new album is kinda weak].

LIES.

I took another listen to that Constantines albums, and it's pretty tight.  My best guess is the award's going to Stars, The Weakerthans, or Holy Fuck.

Thankfully, I haven't heard much of either band but they don't really seem all that similar to me.
