Oasis/Bands that are similar?

<< < (2/5) > >>

rynne:
I wouldn't say that Blur is really that similar to Oasis.  Aside from both dominating the Brit-Pop scene of the mid90s (who remembers the "Country House" vs. "Roll With It" singles battle?) they really don't have much in common to my ears.  Sorta like comparing Nirvana to Pearl Jam---both are kinda lumped into the same genre, but their influences and output didn't really suggest each other.

I'm probably biased, though, since Blur is one of my all-time favorite bands while Oasis never really interested me after the first few singles.  Elastica's first album is all aces, too, and their second sounds a lot better in hindsight than it did when it was released.

Catacombs:
The Stone Roses.

But seriously, i thought people hated Oasis on these boards?  I love them but i never really spoke up about it.  Maybe I'll put up some of their harder to find stuff this weekend in the medifyre thread.

I had this discussion a few days ago...

Why did people expect anything out of Oasis?

Well, I found Sloan to be quite good. Working my way through the rest of the list. Now that I'm trying out this "Zune Pass" stuff, I can just download and listen to it on the go instead of all of this torrenting or RS business. @_@;

I'm suprised I got so many suggestions it may take me a while, cause I usually listen to a 'great' song for at least a day when I first hear it, sometimes up to a week :-P

I honestly don't care if anyone hates a band I like. It's all subjective.

I do however appreciate the suggestions greatly.

One thing I must ask however as I look through some of these bands, do they have any songs that might be not so popular but notable as making them 'great'? I know that some of my favorite bands were only my favorite cause I listened to the whole album (most of their staple songs sucked ass to me) D:

I downloaded full albums, but you know, easier to like a band if the first impression is great ;]

Also, a lot of these aren't really that similar at all to me... Hurricane #1 seems the most similar if anything, but on Zune all I get is previews, so if it's available in stores I'll probably go buy the CD, else wise end up downloading it.

I have another song I'd ask for similarities about, but I doubt many people listen to Shinedown, or specifically Beyond the Sun? I don't think it's that notable of a song to most people anyway. I'll save that for later though.

To be honest, my musical tastes are pretty broad, so anything you throw in here, chances are I'll like it, related to Oasis or not, however I am looking for more bands quite similar to them specifically.

:[  I was going to suggest the Libertines.  Their self-titled isn't all that good, but Up The Bracket was pretty alright.
