Currently, Assemblage 23 - Divide. Today is a Birthday Massacre day in general though, specifically Pins and Needles. I loves it so much.

I actually think pop music is doing pretty well these days, but I like to dance till my brain melts and soaks my shoes. Although I only really listen to Top 40 when I'm drunk or anticipating getting drunk, so there's that, too.
The ironic thing is that it's partly Nirvana's position in the modern music canon that makes it hard for some types who like to really "appreciate" music, to get into Nirvana and see everything that's there. I've known a number of people to write them off because of their popularity and various really superficial markers of style without actually taking the time to soak in all the interesting idiosyncrasies in songwriting, verve, recording and suchlike.

The biggest reason I've heard people have for not listening to Nirvana: "they're not as great as everyone says they are."
I'm not sure that I honestly give a poop what people say they're like, I'd rather listen and make my own decision. I think they're pretty awesome. But I've heard something along that line from at least 5 different people - people that refuse to listen to any of their music because of it. Seems pretty ridiculous to me.
