Colin James and the Little Big Band II.

Excellent album.  He's playing a show nearby soon, and after being let down on fully six shows this summer, I'm hoping like hell I can go.

Rammstein ~ Pussy

:3

yay!

they are so much fun.

Assemblage 23 - Spark single

Yup. "Zwitter" got a hell of a lot better once I read the lyrics.

Currently switching between "Rammstein" and "Rammlied" to compare the maturation in sound.

mmm...people say they're stagnant, but there's acually quite a progression within the formula.

now playing: ending off the first of two new pick ups, Sister Machine Gun's "The Torture Technique" and am about to start into Meat Beat Manifesto's "The Original Fire".

I fail to see how could anyone think that Rammstein don't progress with their music. The debut has a very raw and mechanical/hipnotic feeling along with Sehnsucht. Those atmospheres don't show up too many times in the following albums. The production got a lot cleaner [and less good imho] and so on...

I am just now finally getting around to listening to Wilco (The Album). I like it well enough, even though it officially cements them into the 'dad-rock' realm, I'd wager.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Chopin's Prelude #19.  I'm not normally into classical, but DAMN, did Chopin write some good piano music.

Also, I like pronouncing his name like "choppin'."  It makes me giggle.

Oh, definitely. Herzeleid/Sehnsucht is almost entirely a collection of raw, beat-driven music coupled with the brutality of Lindemann's voice. Mutter (my favorite album) took the same music, slightly neutered it, and let it interplay with a more melodic sound, exemplified best by the opener "Mein Herz Brennt" (my favorite song; yeah, I liked the addition >_>). Reise, Reise continued the trend, to the point where Rosenrot is, imo, probably the worst album, as it let the balance slip too much. I'm reserving judgment on the newest album since only 3 songs are out that I know of.

currently listening to "The Magnificent Duke" by Marmaduke Duke.  it's pretty cool and all, but i can't help thinking i'd rather be listening to either of the bands whose members make up MD, i.e. Biffy Clyro and Sucioperro.  still, for 7-odd quid, it's a pretty good album!

still haven't really checked out Q and not U, but Join Us is badass, especially the last track!  i'm guessing if you're listening to two lesser known dischord bands you've probably already checked out Jawbox, but if not, definitely go get their stuff asap, you'll love it!

Repping something I picked up while rifling through the "Australian House" section of the record bin. It was labeled as "quirky australian deep house" which nearly made me put it down and throw up bile onto the floor but I gave it a chance based on the cover art and it turns out it is pretty great!

Editors - In This Light And On This Evening [album]
Wow, really took me by surprise. There's nary a guitar on the record, so they've turned even more towards the 80s new wave...but thankfully, it's a brilliant album. So much better than And End Has A Start, which was the definition of "underwhelming" for me, especially coming after The Back Room.

Can you still hear his lisp? They'd seemed to have edited it out of the only song from that album I've heard so far, which is disappointing to me. The lisp is Editors!
