new strike anywhere album.  on first listen, i'd say this was a return to the awesomeness of change is a sound/exit english era.  not that i didn't enjoy dead fm, but it was a LITTLE bit weak compared to what came before.

Love that song.

Right now I am chilling in my room with the lights dimmed, sipping a delicious Black and Tan from a local brewery, and revisiting Tortoise's TNT for the first time in a while.

I've never been able to get into Cynic.  Sean Malone always seemed like he was just trying too hard to be Jaco and I just couldn't deal with that.  He does a pretty good Jaco impersonation, but it lacks the spark that made Jaco a great musician.

OSI - "ShutDOWN"

Not quite sure how I feel about OSI.

i've never really been able to get into Focus, but Traced in Air is amazing, as beautifully weird as it is weirdly beautiful.

I couldn't get into that stuff either... But then again, I'm not a real fan of metal being progressive. There are some exceptions though.
____

I'm listening to Mayhem - Wall Of Water
The slow part at 2:30 is fucking terrifying and I can't imagine how Attila does it at 2:55, what a piercing shriek
The drums are just brilliant... The production is perfect for the style, and Attila can make sounds that are barely human...
Attila is right now the best Black Metal vocalist. period.
Easily Mayhem's best album.

NǽnøĉÿbbŒrğ VbëřřĦōlökäävsŦ's new album Eternal Darkness Vortex which is about 21 hours and 41 minutes long. Band is described as ambient cosmic extreme funeral drone doom metal. http://www.nanocyborg.net

NǽnøĉÿbbŒrğ VbëřřĦōlökäävsŦ - (Part I: Passing The Gravitational Barrier And Rendering Oneself Unable To Escape From The Consuming Force Of The Vortex)

I get the chills from this.

Assemblage 23 - Compass (2CD Edition) - Really old sounding...he's much closer to pop with this than he was with the last album.
Rammstein - Liebe Ist Für Alle Da - So far, I'm really liking this album.  There's elements of everything, from the more tonal aspects of Herzeleid to the more stomping, teutonic stuff shortly thereafter.  And some crazy intense growling that is angrier than I've heard them in a while.

Edit:
16 Volt - American Porn Songs - so far, much better than the big return album Full Black Habit.

It's really starting to grow on me a lot. I'll give a listen to her earlier album later, but right now, I'm enjoying her latest a lot.

(She's incredibly cute and good-looking in the "Dance Anthem of the 80s" video)

In my humble opinion, everything beofre that album was kind of 10 times better. But I guess I'm just one of the minorities.
