Yeah, I read an interview with the guy and that's the pronunciation he gave. He did a mix for the blog 20 jazz funk greats a while ago that was really good, too.

honestly the guys with wacky names are the least impressive witch house acts, the cake easily goes to Salem, oOoOO, and White Ring, although yeah void has some decent stuff and †‡†, SLEEP ∞ OVER, and LAKE R▲DIO have some good tracks. but when a band called ℑ⊇≥◊≤⊆ℜ comes along they just seem like they're trying too hard.

ℑ⊇≥◊≤⊆ℜ is super try-hard. Their imagery is more entertaining than any music they actually make. SALEM, oOoOO and White Ring were around right as witch house was becoming a thing and have remained the most interesting acts to come out of it, with two notable exceptions. Modern Witch is excellent, but I don't see them as easily pigeonholed as other groups people call witch house. On the other hand, Mater Suspiria Vision basically does the exact same thing to any song they like and call it a "Ghost Drone Edit," but the videos that get made for them by visual artist Cosmotropia de Xam are occasionally brilliant. But yeah, like SLEEP ∞ OVER and GR†LL GR†LL are good. †‡† and LAKE R▲DIO I don't really care much for. Or I dunno. I can't decide how I feel about †‡†'s song goth bb, but it's partly just because it lifts the melody from the new HEALTH song, USA Boys. And Goddamn, USA Boys is so fucking good.

I liked INITIATION when I first heard it but now it just seems really, really melodramatic. All the songs that use the church organs are starting to grind on my ears and not in a good way.
