30second samples on amazon of the forthcoming 36 Crazyfists album.  Their "Rest Inside the Flames" album was the soundtrack that helped me through a pretty shitty summer a few years back, so I've always had a soft-spot for this band, even though their last album was a little patchy.

Rx Bandits - "Pal-Treaux"

I can't find a single fault in the Rx Bandits except that a lot of the time they write unmemorable music, and that is what kills them in terms of getting Hella Famous

Because seriously this band is just SO FUCKING GOOD

The bonus disc from the We Are The Romans deluxe edition that just arrived for me. The band's intros to the demo songs are amusing  :-)

Just picked up an album by a producer called Jaytech, entitled Everything Is Okay. It's a bit trancey, which isn't normally my thing, but it's also very house-y, just low on big hooks and vocals. I'm getting pretty into it, and it occurs to me that an album with such a propulsive beat that flows so fluidly from track to track will be great homework music come fall.

That is an incredible album. You'd love the rest of this lot.

I just uploaded the two label samplers to the MF thread (well, I will have in about 30 seconds since I did this post first). Good starting point.

Got every release on there so shout out if you want any unmixed tracks or singles from the Discogs list.

Death Of A Speaker by Kalotone. Not sure if I like it, but it's interesting.

Edit: In the end I didn't like it. Annoying vocal samples are annoying.

Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood

it's been a while for me, and I guess I should start getting ready for seeing them next year at MDF haha. this album is enough evidence that Neurosis can be imitated, but never outdone.

"Trapdoor Exit" - Twainharte

Local math-rock. Exploded up out of the shitty Livermore hardcore scene and became something good. I've known the drummer since we were 5 and 6 (I'm older) and the guitarist and I used to jam a lot back in February and March this year. Consider myself very lucky.

Posting some of their stuff on the You Know What thread.

It's so fucked how the dude in Last Lights died. I can't imagine how scary it must have been for other frontmen at the time, as well, since so many people pulled stunts like that, but never thought about what could happen.

i'll probably get shit for this, but the newest Four Year Strong and A Day to Remember albums.  i wouldn't call them guilty pleasures exactly (as i think the concept of a GUILTY pleasure in music is ridiculous), but it doesn't quite make sense that i'd like these bands, as they play the most saccharine, cheesy pop-punk (with none of the gruffness that makes pop-punk great), combined with the most generic of metalcore breakdowns, and some almost sickening overproduction... and yet i can't seem to get enough lately!

that said, i've heard older material by both bands and it both sucks and blows.

I'll play tracks off of FYS's cover album sometimes. No shame, because the pop-punk versions of "Ironic" and "Absolutely (Story of A Girl)" are catchy as hell.

anyway...
