Favorite movie...based on the soundtrack
Lamrock:
Trainspotting, narrowly over Donnie Darko.
AanAllein:
It is very tempting to name Trainspotting simply because it opens and closes with two of my favourite songs, but I am a touch resentful of Born Slippy at the same time. Far too many people seem to regard Underworld as this one-hit-wonder band because of the song, which bugs me. It's not even their best dance song (likely "Pearl's Girl") or their best song (in my opinion, "Jumbo" by far).
Besides, Trainspotting would really be chosen on the basis of the songs on the soundtrack rather than the soundtrack within the film. Dismissing Trainspotting, I am torn between:
Requiem for a Dream, for obvious reasons. It's not coincidental that every second film trailer nowadays rips this soundtrack off...
Vertigo, because the score here is just perfect for developing and sustaining the mood. <3 Bernard Hermann
onewheelwizzard:
The soundtrack for There Will Be Blood is incredible.
Also, I just saw Vanilla Sky and was happily impressed with the music for it.
Can't think of an all-time favorite right now.
Jackie Blue:
Vanilla Sky most definitely had pretty much perfect music in it. My girlfriend at the time and I saw it in the theater and had to like, physically restrain ourselves from yelling "HOLY FUCK" when "Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space" started playing.
Dimmukane:
On the subject of The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, I haven't listened to Nick Cave at all until this movie. What is his music like?
