I think people are blowing them out of proportion, they aren't really that crazy, she just has a weird voice.

Besides, she plays too badass of a bass to be a bad part of the band.

It's not just her voice. That's part of it, sure, but it's the whole package. Somehow it's just exceptionally unpleasant. The only way I could really put my finger on it is if I went back and listened to more Deerhoof. I'm not going to do that. I guess it'll have to remain, for me anyway, ambiguously terrible.

I still like the Beatles, but I'm just so damn worn out on them, I hate it when my friends go on collective music binges, same with led zepplin.

I'll bite, I respect Radiohead, and I don't mind it when a friend plays them, but I've never had a desire to go listen to them. I dunno, theres always something else I'd rather hear.

Yeah! And the only mention I've heard of these guys is from fellow Brooklyn musicians. Oh and I almost caught them live at McCarren Park Pool once but I ended up not going and sitting around in Huda's house all day smoking Silk Cuts instead.

Black Tide. Yes, it's great that they're an average age of 15 and can play their instruments really well, but being impressed by a bunch of teenagers who can (poorly) rip off the best of thrash isn't impressive...it's lame. I say that expressing undying devotion to bands like Gama Bomb and Municipal Waste, but at least those guys are fun.

Trivium. You sound like Metallica and lord knows we only need one band doing that at a time.

I was going to look up MGTMT or however the hell you spell it, but then I decided if I don't know who they are, I cannot be sick of them.

Also, I can't stand Deerhoof either. It's not because Satomi's vocals hit me as "weird"-- they really don't. I've listened to music in all sorts of languages before; hearing someone just sing melodies doesn't bother me at all, since I routinely ignore meaning and concentrate on pure sound anyway; I don't even sing along with music so it's not like I've ever bothered to learn the lyrics the lyrics to even my favorites. What does bother me is that I find her voice high pitched and unpleasant.
