Catfish_Man:
Speaking of Scrabble, holy fuck I got destroyed this weekend. She played a 131 point word. Rematch of Doom: Part 2 will occur next weekend or the one after.
negative creep:
Wow, thanks, Cardinal!
That card-thing doesn't sound good to me. OCS, on the other hand, sounds better, the more I read about it.
I will, as soons as I'm at my own PC again on thrusday, continue my research. Again, thanks for your help!
Trollstormur:
One of my proudest moments in our current campaign: We were chasing down some sea-hags, one of them was hiding out in a town, and the second was hiding in a cavern system with some lizard men. The townhag was posing as an old blind woman to get us to get their Eye (a stone of trueseeing). the hags usually share this eye, but they just squabbled over it instead. the cavernhag had the eye and we were sent to get it from her.
We got to the underwater cavern system, and took the left tunnel which dead ended. From the rocks sprung a lizardman!
Instead of kicking it's ass, the rogue who went first said "hello?" and we started parlaying with this lizardman. Turns out, he was the lizardmen's old chieftan, since deposed by the hag who now ruled the caverns, and the lizardmen. So we hatched a plan to kill the hag and reassert Selkis' control over his tribe.
The plan went swimmingly and we knocked the hag out, led her out in fetters and stole the eye. Our suspicions about the townhag were soon proved by the eye. We caught her and unceremoniously executed both hags in a field next to the town.
Fast forward to a few months later, and we're out to kill the 3rd hag, the most powerful of all. She's holed up in a fortress-like light tower, teeming with undead minions. We decided to siege the tower instead of breaching it. We set up a basecamp in the forests and on a small hill overlooking the light tower, a pair of catapults.
I had brought our lizardman tribe with us and set our master-at-arms to teaching them to fight in lockstep with spear and shield. We had them outfitted in chainmaille byrnie and half-helm with large shields, and there I made my stand to protect the catapults against the undead onslaught.
The lizardman phalanx worked perfectly, not a single lizardman was slain, and we piled corpses in front of the shieldwall. It was my proudest moment and from that day forth, the little lizardman tribe was now trained, battle-hardened and knew tactics. Soon, they destroyed the forces of the towns around them, and now are carving out a little lizardman nation.
oops!
Lummer:
I was in a little Warhammer 40000 tournament today at a store in Copenhagen. Was good fun!
My army was a 1500 point Salamanders Space Marines force, on the defensive, shooty side. It consisted of:
1 Librarian, with a plasma pistol.
If only I had read up on the special rules for this tourney, I would NEVER have gone for this one. It was set on a planet with some kind of dodgy Warp disturbances, which made all psykers cast their powers at Ld. 7, which basically meant that I didn't get use Gate of Infinity to snatch obejctives. Dang. That was all I'd gotten him for.
Oh well, lesson learned.
10 Terminators, no special weapons.
These guys performed admirably, especially when split into two squads.
2 10-man Tactical Squads
2 Dreadnoughts,
and 2 Devastator Squads, with Heavy Bolters and Plasma Cannons, respectively.
First game was against a very experienced Chaos Space Marines player, and I was absolutely massacred to the last man. Great fun though.
Second Game was against a ridonkulously huge Ork force. 125 orks, on one table! Luckily, none of them were mechanised so they all had a long, long walk across the board, to where I'd dug my Marines in. The game itself was a draw on objectives, but I ended up slaughtering 80+ orks with shooting, and all his HQ and Burnaz with some well placed Dreadnought and Terminator Power Fists before we hit the time limit, so that was great fun as well.
Third was a narrow, narrow win for me, against an Eldar army. It is quite thrilling to play against those crafty little buggers!
So yeah, good, fun gaming day.
