THE RUNTS OF THE 2008 LITTER...
Some albums I've enjoyed, but for whatever reason (usually its the case that I have to "be in the right mood" for them, which isn't an insult, just how it is), haven't recieved enough listenage to warrant making my top 30.  Given more time, some would probably have made the top 30.  Here they are, in no order of preference:

36 Crazyfists - "The Tide and Its Takers"
The Ascent of Everest - "How Lonely Sits the City"
The Automatic - "This Is a Fix"
Cheap Girls - "Find Me a Drink Home"
Cult of Luna - "Eternal Kingdom"
Frank Turner - "Love, Ire and Song"
Fucked Up - "The Chemistry of Common Life"
The Gutter Twins - "Saturnalia"
The Hold Steady - "Stay Positive"
Jaguar Love - "Take Me to the Sea"
Johnny Truant - "No Tears for the Creatures"
The Legacy - "Beyond Hurt Beyond Hell"
Mogwai - "The Hawk Is Howling"
Monikers - "Wake Up"
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - "Dig, Lazarus, Dig!"
The Offspring - "Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace"
Polar Bear Club - "Sometimes Things Just Disappear"
Russian Circles - "Station"
Sigur Rós - "Með Suð Í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust"
Thrice - "The Alchemy Index Vols. 3 & 4: Air & Earth"

A YEAR LATE...!
My Top 10 of kickass records from 2007 which I meant to check out at the time, but only actually got around to picking up this year.

4.  The Gaslight Anthem - "Sink or Swim"
5.  65daysofstatic - "The Destruction of Small Ideas"
6.  Hour of the Wolf - "Waste Makes Waste"

9.  Rosetta - "Wake/Lift"
10. Attack in Black - "Marriage"

BAND OF THE YEAR AWARD:  The Gaslight Anthem
All three of their records have made my lists in some form another this year, and they're one of the few bands that are truly living up to all the hype they're getting.
RUNNER-UP: Glass and Ashes - They weren't my album of the year for nothing!  And they've broken up, at least for the time being, which sucks.

BEST ALBUM ARTWORK:  Blacklisted - "Heavier than Heaven, Lonelier than God"
Just epic.  And sums up the feel of the album its title amazingly.
RUNNER-UP: Clouds - "We are Above You" - Is that a tall pile of pancakes with syrup!?  *MOVES CLOSER* ...Wait, no it's a menacing-looking tower with tentacles growing out of it. Nice!
N.B. Torche's album might have got in here, were it not for the fact that it's damn near impossible to get the foldy-out-bits back in the case without damaging them!

CUNTRAG OF THE YEAR AWARD:   William Control
Yep, that over-dramatic vocally-talentless goth gimp from Aiden has started a solo project that, somehow, is even worse than his day-job.  Dodgy electro-goth-pop drivel that no-one should have to hear.
RUNNER-UP:   Ollie Sykes of Bring Me the Horizon - His band are terrible enough, but now all of a sudden I can't open up a magazine without seeing his gormless mug staring back at me, advertising his shit dayglo clothing company.

THE "WTF?!" AWARD:  Sigur Rós, for the "Gobbledigook" video
Apparently that's how shit goes down in Iceland.  Pretty cool!
RUNNER-UP:  Tom Gabel - Tom, I love your songs, but WTF were you thinking when you put that drum machine in there?!

MrBlu:
I don't do lists well but I'll try.

Top 10 favorite artists That I discovered this year:
1...

Ok, can we skip this and just say that Lauryn Hill is the best ever? Or BSS?

Skibas_clavicle:
Don't we already have this thread?

Skibas_clavicle:
I believe it's 15 pages long.
